Have to say that's an obscene amount of money, and nothing given back to the customer. Also shows how much of a one trick pony they still are.
Would be nice if they reduced the iPhone and iPad costs in the UK, considering the pounds gone back up but noooo.
go and buy apple shares along with you Apple device..eventually that device will become free.

Apple says record revenue for Watch so clearly Beats sales are declining. As I've said before, Apple bought Beats at the peak of its popularity. Stupid stupid acquisition.
Not following your logic. How did you come to that conclusion? I mean, just spit ballin', but absent any facts wouldn't the decline in the Other category be more likely attributable to the iPod sales. Not saying you're wrong, but I'd bet more money on iPod decline than Beats. Plus, no Apple monitors and no LG stock. No AirPorts, AirPods not available 'til mid December. But Beats is your answer. That's interesting.

Listening to the earnings call just now... I wonder if Tim saying 'MacBook Touch' was just a mistake reading the script for 'MacBook Pro with Touch Bar' or whether it's a forthcoming product....

Tim just said something like most of the Mac revenue is coming from first time mac users. Which means there aren't all that many upgrading to the new ones. Interesting that they know that, and if they'll do anything about it.

"nothing given back to the customer."

You want Apple to pay a cash dividend to customers? I don't think that's how business works!

We can only hope :(

Pound has gone back up? Is that some sort of alternative fact?

So, you're saying Apple has so little love for the Mac because that sales percentage is so low? I think you have the cause and effect confused. I tend to think the percentage is so low because Apple has so little love for it. Apple rarely updates the computers, doesn't appear to be taking the desktop line seriously anymore (beyond removing valued features so it can be skinnier and more aesthetically pleasing) and not keeping up with the rest of the market in terms of sheer power. On top of that, they seem spectacularly tone-deaf to what the market is asking for (for the billionth @#$%& time, a headless Mac already!)

It's no mystery why the Mac isn't selling better. It's because Apple isn't trying very hard.

I have no idea which is the chicken and which is the egg. My guess is that because iPhone was growing so quickly it got all the attention and that slowed invocation on the Mac, which made the disparity even greater.

What I am pretty sure of is that Apple is close to creating a death spiral, where Mac sales decline because of lack of attention, which causes them to focus less on them, causing sales to decline...

servicing is there main topic for next 4 years....geez. It's good, but .........geez. Heavily dependent on iphone with apple pay.

Edit: I knew it...he just mentioned MBP.

Really? Nothing given back?

How about well-designed products that seamlessly and tightly integrate together well, enhancing the productivity of their customers' lives. Products that work so well, millions of people enjoy the user experience and are willing to open their wallets and come back as repeat customers, year after year.
And what they do for the environment and for the poor...

So, nothing really, this guy knows exactly what he's talking about... /s

Siri is a joke, who uses a Mac for productivity? Perhaps you should ask some professional Apple mad YouTubers who slate the new MacBook Pro because of its bugs, it makes their video editing much longer. And as said before, how do you know they are repeat customers? Did they display information on that then? Or is that a guess... the same as claiming millions enjoy the user experience.
Sure I've no doubt what you say have truth, but I've equally seen the exact opposite too. I wonder if all those BMW drivers felt they got a good experience with their Bluetooth breaking with iOS 10? 17.9 BILLION dollars profit for one quarter and they couldn't even make an iOS update that worked with the Bluetooth in BMWs... yeah theirs a big reason they have those profits...

Some things to note:

1) This quarter had 14 weeks instead of 13 as in most years, due to a calendering issue. See
http://ped30.com/2016/08/12/apple-extra-week-q1-2017/

2) What that means is that revenue per week was down from last year: $78.4 billion / 14 = $5.6 billion vs. $75.9 billion / 13 = $5.8 billion. So not much growth, I'm afraid.

3) Also, Apple appears convinced that iPads are the future, but iPad sales are shrinking and Macs are growing. Macs currently account for 9% of revenue vs. 7% for iPads.
Bravo. Good way to turn this into a negative news post.

So basically apple is a phone company that sell a few computers on the side. Oh, and the ipad is dead... Good riddance.

As one of those customers I don't feel that nothing has been given back to me. In exchange for my funds I have received iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro, and Apple Watch this past year. It's an exchange of money for goods and services and I feel I've received value for the deal.

Well said. I couldn't agree more. Well worth all the money I've spent.
