Fair enough - above and beyond however has not happened where it matters - lifting “millions“ out of poverty - while we have a major devide in our country - by your logic all small and medium business owners, who provide and/or create jobs here should get preferential treatment in every respect for keeping „isms“ at bay just by their virtue of doing the right thing - as opposed to apple and co who abuse their social mandate and erode our functioning democracy just by their virtue of being a bad citizen.
Veering a bit off topic as this would make a good thread in the other political forum.

Apple is doing (at least according to Peter Drucker), exactly what a for-profit company is doing. Providing goods and services for it's consumers. Whatever your personal grade on Apple for their non-corporate activities can certainly be debated.

I guess for Apple the stars were aligned, they had the right business strategy and hence, here we are with record earnings.

Services were up almost 25% y/y and have 65% margins. What would you like them to do? 😂

Services only look like a smaller percentage because of the strength of the hardware in holiday quarters.
Yep. services are a huge cash cow. I believe that AWS accounts for most of Amazon's profits.

Samsung only gives $200 worth of free accessories with new phone purchase so free Galaxy Buds Pro, leather case, clear case, 25W charger and smart tag. Not as good as paying $20 for a 5W charger. LOL
It's "free" if you finance through Samsung. That is loan them your money for cash flow for "free" for 3 years.

And Apple appears to be "taking responsibility for the common good"...seen through the lens of the programs they have instituted, matching corporate programs and donations in terms of materials, resources and time plus other programs/actions that may not be directly visible to the public. They could do more and they could do less, but my opinion is they are meeting the objective of the quote.

It’s good to have the product versus services margins. Product gross margins are lower (31.5%) than they’ve been recently. All the recent development costs add up.

It’s time for Apple to offer Google a price they can’t refuse for Android and then shut it down. All of the current Android vendors would be up a creek without a paddle. By the time they figure out a new OS and new app ecosystem Apple could pretty much control 100% of the smartphone market.

Not necessarily. Apple Support Advisors work in the US, China, Ireland and Singapore

Apple Support Advisor - Jobs at Apple - Apple
If you call AppleCare from the US, you'll talk to someone in the US or Canada. They may or may not work for Apple, though. Some do. But when I was there, there were about 12 contracted companies that also did AppleCare for Apple within the US.

Maybe they should learn from Apple and Samsung also can make $111B per quarter. Giving away that $200 of "free accessories" to sell their phones really eats in the bottom line.

@mi7chy is actually wrong and didn’t read the fine print.

Samsung does not give away ‘$200 of free accessories’, that’s only with a particular package that you have to buy that phone model at the highest storage tier with a specific color to even get that $200 worth of accessories. In other words, the customer is still paying for it. It’s not free.

I'll personally tell Samsung that they got everyone's order wrong and to charge for the free accessories so you can feel better. Happy?

I think Apple is in a happy equilibrium with android. It helps stave off accusations that iOS is a monopoly, and Apple already garners the lion’s share of the profits in the smartphone and App Store markets.

why would anybody want that? competition is good and its what apple needs to get better.

So much riding on iPhone marketplace by that chart and the pie chart. Need to really push forward with new Macs as you really see iPads have done very well in the first chart.
You have to give Apple credit for reinventing themselves all the time. Yes, a lot is riding on the phone. But they evolve in such a natural fashion. Remember the rise and 'fall' of the iPod? That didn't cause any drama since it transitioned into the iPhone. I wouldn't bet on the Mac. The Mac and iPad won't have the iPod or iPhone effect, both listing a steady part of the revenue. I do find it interesting to see that their services and wearables are starting to pay off big time and these categories are still growing.
