How many of those "afters" are Samsung?

Wasn't you replying to a post about thinness? I'm not sure why you'd use an image with the likes of the Panasonic H2 to compare to the iPad if digging on Samsung only was the name of the game.

The image you selected to prove your point uses ruggedised Windows based tablet PC's that would omit thinness over ruggedness. I use a Toughbook for work and they simply aren't designed for consumers or to be stylish.

Rugged tablet PC's aren't similar to consumer level tablets? No **** sherlock!

I'm not sure why you'd use [that] image

Oh you know why he used that image. ;) Next up, he'll post the Samsung "store", the Samsung "smart cover", "power connector" images. Then he'll trumpet Apple's complaint of infringement and their icon trademarks as if they were established facts.

He'll then claim vaguely that "Android is a rip off of iOS" and finish off with a "Eric Schmidt stole from Apple while being on their board".

We've been through this about 500 times already with a myriad of other posters, I'm pretty sure you know "Why". :D

You missed out the boxes... Oh the boxes with images of the product inside on the box....

And away we go. Samsung has a trend...and then trend tends to lag right behind Apple releases for some strange reason.

It'd be great if people took the time to resize an image, and/or at least edit out the parts that are known to be incorrect.

For example, leaving in that store icons photo, which everyone on the planet knows (or should know by now) didn't come from Samsung, just makes the rest have less impact.

Thanks!

Or the Smart covers not being made by Samsung either. Or the Old School microphone that Apple basically took from Windows Mobile/Android that used it prior.

Or...

But you know why they don't it, just like Chaz does, just like we all do. ;)

I think the microphone thing is ridiculous, but the smart case is a bit suspect. The company that made them was run by Samsung's CEO's cousin and describes itself as having a very strong affiliation with Samsung. It's hard to say if they thought they could get away with it or if it truly was an error.

It's still not Samsung. Conspiracy theories aside.

I honestly don't think it makes it have less impact. It's actually a pretty good comparison of photos. I've said it before, it's right there for everyone to see. Samsung does not make an exact copy of apple products, but to act as if there is no commonality and that Samsung did not take a lot of inspiration from apple, is delusional. I mean "s voice"??? They didn't even try with that one lol

That being said, Apple has some of the stupidest patents known to man.

Indeed, but it's a company that only makes accessories for Samsung products and is run by Samsung's CEO's family member, so I'm not how much of a conspiracy it sounds like.

No, the photos pointed to by kdarling are not Samsung's responsibility or things they made. That's the whole point. Samsung did not have "inspiration" in those events pictured because they were not implicated.

The store is an italian mobile device store, the icons on the wall are that store's decor. The Samsung kiosk just happens to sit amidst a sea of icons painted by the store's owner. Samsung did not pain those icons.

The old school microphone was used in the industry forever. Apple took the idea from Windows Mobile/Android in the first place. It's one of those things that just is. You use it for recognizability. Apple did, Samsung did, Microsoft and Google also did before them.

The Smart covers were not even made by Samsung, they were made by a 3rd party accessory vendor, no matter how much conspiracy theorists want to link it directly to Samsung through family ties and such.

And finally, Apple has not claimed any infringement for any of these items, it's just bloggers and forum goers that keep repeating them ad nauseum with no concern for truth. It's become a mantra for those that don't want to know the facts.

If I were responsible for everything my cousins did, I'd be in deep crap. It is a conspiracy theory, tin foil hat and all.

The store, the smart covers and the microphone are not to do with samsungs design. What about the pics of the hardware? The pics other then the three that show the store, the microphone and the smart covers?

Did Samsung create that stuff? Do you not see the similarity? If not,

If yes, then that's my point. Samsung took a LOT of inspiration from apple.

I am actually curious, did we ever get confirmation on that? I couldn't find any article where Samsung ever commented on beyond the Italian one where it was made to seem that Samsung was directly involved in setting it up. However, I truly do believe it was an error.

So, did we ever get confirmation that Samsung wasn't actually involved in setting up that store?

Agreed. The microphone thing is ridiculous.

In what way is it a conspiracy theory if it's completely true that Anymode's (the company that made the smart case) CEO and Samsung's CEO's are cousins (as well as being the nephew of, I think, two of the chairmen of Samsung) and Anymode exclusively works with Samsung?

And finally, Apple has not claimed any infringement for any of these items, it's just bloggers and forum goers that keep repeating them ad nauseum with no concern for truth. It's become a mantra for those that don't want to know the facts.

I think it's just an image to show that Samsung is clearly looking to Apple for a bit more than inspiration. I don't think Apple could win any lawsuit based on those pictures but it just shows that Samsung is emulating Apple in many, many ways.

If I were responsible for everything my cousins did, I'd be in deep crap. It is a conspiracy theory, tin foil hat and all.

Oh no, I agree with the general idea that you!=your cousin. I think it gets a bit murkier when there is clearly a business relationship there and the companies are likely deeply intertwined. Writing it off as a conspiracy is not really fair, I'd think.

I don't want to go over them 1 by 1. We've been there, shown plenty of examples of similar designs throughout the industry's history. Circles under boxes for electronics, USB connectors, PDMI connectors, etc.. etc.. etc..

It gets tiring repeating the same stuff after a while. Maybe you just haven't been in these threads since these lawsuits began and haven't seen all of this already, but for those of us who have been following this since the beginning, it just comes to a point where we don't care anymore if some posters like to spread FUD, lies and half truths.

Admittedly, I've not been around long. however, that doesn't really take away my point.

Htc, lg, Motorola and a myriad of other companies make Android phones and strangely they don't have striking similarities like that in their hardware. Their cables don't look like that, their phones don't look like that, their adaptors don't look like that.

Just to be clear where i stand, because i don't know if you realize it, i don't think anyone can confuse an Android phone by Samsung for an iPhone if they actually pick it up and look at it. From a distance yes, but it's not a cloned product. But there are similarities, and the design was inspired by Apple. It doesn't matter if the design has been around forever, there are ways to not make it look so similar. I frankly don't know how people can deny the similarities with a straight face!

No kdarling is right. All is does is make it really easy and rightfully so to write the entire post off as standard fanboy know nothing arguments. It shows that they do not bother with any real research and have zero understanding.

Forget the sensationalism. That's dumb to even consider and write off an article. Behind the sensationalism is the pictures that show what the standard fanboy is arguing.

I agree we don't need the extra fanboy commentary to go along with the pictures, but how do you deny the pictures? saying "these designs have been around forever" doesn't work imo, because it's only samsungs phones/hardware that look that similar to Apple. If the other companies can differentiate on looks, why can't Samsung?

Oh come on, you're saying that's the only way to make those things??

So your solution to make them different is to make them huge annoying devices. I hate USB plugs that come out the side. The one out the top is by far much easier to use if you plug anything into a power strip. Big time in today's world were a night stand often times has multiple things plug into to it. My night stand for example on my nightstand things that I put there that need to be plugged in at night, Alarm clock, lamp, phone, and tablet. I also tend to put my kindle there as well to charge. 2 plug outlet is not going to cover 4-5 devices. 3 devices on the night stand is fairly common. That is in power strip land.

So your solution is to change the argument? Oletros said he'd like to see how someone can make them different, i showed him how and now they're "huge and annoying"? What does how good they look have to do with anything at all? You're saying in order to make them look good, they HAVE to look like apples product?
