Dear Apple,

Nice to know you have AI. Why is still the case that macOS spellchecker still does not correct the highly improbable 'tot he' to the astronomically more likely 'to the'?

Bets wishes, - a disgruntled customer
Yeah, tots never use gender specific pronouns anymore anyway… 😂

Sounds pretty unique in that it seems to take advantage of running locally in ways that the other chatbots can't. This looks great, can't wait for this to ship!

Meanwhile, Siri now responds to 'Turn on the lights' with 'On or off/?'

So it seems difficult to believe that Apple is close to a breakthough in AI technology.
Current Siri sounds like a mess operationally, and like it's not actually using AI. From the horror stories I remember reading, it seems like it's really just a solid voice processor backed up by databases of pre-programmed commands.

“Apple may be quiet on AI, but it’s also the biggest buyer of AI companies.”

The power of silence in a noisy world.
If memory serves, Apple bought Siri around 2010 for $200m for fear of losing it to the competition, and let go its founder at first opportunity (Standard Operating Apple Procedure).

In the interest of ggoodwill and converting the multitude of Siri nonbelievers, Apple should have a special short event, just showcasing Siri and its new AI attempts before WWDC. I think there’s too much needed information to shoehorn into the WWDC Keynote and leave time for any other information at all.

"Reference resolution is an important part of natural language understanding, enabling users to use pronouns and other indirect references in conversation without confusion."

Clearing up my pronoun confusion would be invaluable in California. Though I always thought my indirect references were rather clear. Insensitive maybe, but clear...

Who cares what they're doing, they haven't released it yet (or ever). In the meantime what they've got is absolutely worst on show and the world continues to move on and leave Cook's Apple behind.

So Apple keeps doing research to the point that they are surpassed by competitors and never bring anything to market. Ultimately just outsourcing core tech and putting off feat improvements. Typical.

It wouldn't be hard to beat Siri's voice recognition! Siri has been absolutely pitiful given the resources - both financial, dataset and monetary - it has had to fix it over the years.
Tell me you’re clueless without telling me you’re clueless.

Siri speech recognition is, in fact, superb. One way you can see just how good it is is that a modern Apple WATCH, on-device, can handle commands like “Hey Siri, remind me in two hours to do whatever”.
This is handled on the watch - you can power down your phone, and switch off WiFi on the watch and it will still work.

Interesting. Will be nice to see how the various AI based features will improve over time in the future.

Did your mother ever tell you "If you don't have anything good to say, say nothing at all", It's so frustrating to have people come out with negative comments without even seeing the implementation. Can you at least give Apple a chance to fail ?
Does that only apply to Apple?
