I like this idea far too much. Maybe that's the whole point... leave it out of the lineup for long enough, and people will clamor for it. Then, a few more years down the line people will be begging for silver again.
I don't see Apple eliminating silver for black, it would just be a third (possibly pricier) option.

Speaking of silver, has Apple ever published how well silver sells vs space gray, percentage wise? Since space gray was introduced I have rarely seen in the wild a silver MacBook of any model. I personally prefer space gray and would jump at black.

Not for me thanks. It just makes it look like every other laptop out there.

Anyone else hoping for something using Vantablack? BMW made an X6 with it,Swiss luxury watch manufacturer H. Moser & Cie have used this technology in their watches. Perhaps Apple will use it to offer as a high end finish option for its entire product line. The Vantablack edition of; watch, macbook, iPhone etc..

officially waiting for this colour Mac. Will buy 2. Probably will sell house to afford it but it will be mine. This should be the Mac mini Pro colour.

Black and Aluminum are cool but why can't we use more colour in our life? Those original colourful ibooks were and still are pleasant aesthetically over the dystopian shades of grey colours.

I don't know why anyone is excited about this. If history repeats itself this black MacBook will be like the one in the past. A nasty fingerprint magnet. No thanks!

I would say the consumer wanting a MacBook Pro isn't looking for a green or orange one. Also colorful laptops like the old iBooks aren't as popular anymore and I'm sure that's why Apple isn't currently doing it. Niche colors don't sell well.
