If they put a display on front and back they could automatically switch which one is used depending on which is up or down. Could make some things more easy, but I'm in the habit of putting my phone display down on the table during meetings in order to not be distracted by visual notifications but still able to receive calls.

One of those things that are not gonna take off...
Samsung tried similar things already and it's not actually looking better nor improve usability -like not at all.

This is the type of stuff that's only hyped... it's practical use is just not there or even adds usability issues (in that case the non-exisiting drop-survival-rate) much like 3D TVs... sounds great but the shutter glasses were not accepted by the market.

Can't innovate my glass
That’s hardly innovation. That’s more of Apple giving less under the pretense of giving more….the Jony-type Minimalist Design Contest crap that made many of us hate the last 6 years of MacBooks pre-M1. Apple (possibly) doing something just because it can. I hope this never comes to be.

Many things work great as a touch interface. iPhones, iPads, your significant other.

Certain things should never be replaced with non-tactile touch-only. Steering wheels. MacBook function keys. Your significant other.

Some things just work better with tactile buttons/controls. Volume. Accelerator/brake pedals. MacBook keyboards. Your significant other.
