Just had a thought... what if the next MacBook is 3D printed in Titanium? Like the unibody, this would be the next breakthrough for consumer electronics after CNC machining, yes?

With dongles, the ugliness is visible to the user all the time, instead of only when they turn the computer and look at its sides. :p

But you're correct, USB-A is way uglier than this.

I rarely use dongles except for my ethernet adapter which looks quite nice. I guess it's a bigger problem if you use them all the time. Honestly though I'd rather go all USB-C and use dongles either way. Part of the reason why is that I'd rather every port be extremely powerful and versatile and able to be turned into basically anything using an adapter rather than having each port be for a specific connection type, some of which I will never use.

Sure, but the rumor is to have MagSafe and SD, for example, in addition to the existing four USB-C ports. The current 16" has four ports, do you need to plug more than four things into your computer?

I'm a little confused. I never said I wanted more than 4 ports. Just that I wanted them to stick with USB-C.

Personally I'm not thrilled about the return of MagSafe because this means the return of a proprietary charging cable that can only be used for one thing, and possibly even a brick where the cable is glued onto it again. We would also presumably only be able to use MagSafe on one side. I have really liked being able to charge from both, which is part of the reason I haven't needed MagSafe (I never trip over the cable anymore).

Gee, what goes around comes around. Just imagine, a titanium macbook pro. What a novel concept, never saw that before. ;)

Yeah, it'll be like the return of an old friend, couldn't afford the Titanium Powerbook G$ the first time around. Perhaps this time'll be different.

Let’s hope the hinges aren’t as brittle as the ones in the old generation. Not mentioning the flaking colour finish of that thing back then....
