I wasn't gonna mention it, but the other day I had a bean burrito. Later, I had to lean over and let one go, and I swear it sounded like, "Gee-fiii-ju-ly."

No word on colors yet, but I keep seeing brown, so...

feeeeeyouu!!!

I was walking along minding my own business when suddenly I was overtaken by, well... something that reeked of Apple sauce... I had a flash of consciousness and a shiny new (albeit brown) tower loomed in the distance... I walked in as if in a dream and entered the elevator... the buttons read from "G" for ground to G5, the penthouse...

the aroma lifted and I was back at my Powerbook 100 waiting for the 11Mhz processor to boot up...

G5`s…

Hey!
There seems to be some kind of logic thinkin´
behind the ideaa of G5´s in july…
Powermacs with G4 @ (2x) 1000 mhz,
then the upgrade to G5 @ 1200 mhz.
And upwards of course…
New ram (higher bus speed; ddr)
updated firewire and usb, airport
standard as well as combodrives…

this makes sense.

G5's in July would really make sense and fit nicely into Apples release schedule. the TiBooks are being released at WWDC, which will leave MWNY for the G5!

not too much gas pedal...

Careful there... what if nothing but a speed bump comes of WWDC and MWNY... so much hype can get a brain crazy. That would really piss some folks off!

G5's at all?

Am I the only one that is starting to think there wont be a G5 at all?

The more rumors I hear the more certain I get that the G5 is dead and we will get stock at 1 - 1,4 Ghz G4 range. Apple has annouced that this summer they will start an aggresive campaign at the windows users (to get them converted). But what is the deal? An expensive computer wich runs at highest 1GHz?

Madamimadamtimallen,I fail to see how you received any information of the speed of the G5 for all we know it could be a dual 800mhz with some sort of Ultravec2 or some crap like that. The actual speed of the G5 is purley Speculation I bet Steve dose not even know the speed of the G5 "If their is a G5 on it's way" I just said 1.7 for the sake of the post. Next are you going the post that my transporter won't transport from Earth to orbit??

IF this guy knows what he's talking about, as unlikely as that is, I'm really looking forward to MWNY...getting up at 6 to watch the keynote is a sacrifice I'm willing to make. :D

steve jobs is a marketing genius...sometimes the best buzz is a leak, but not always

Macworld July,

-Airport cards no longer an option, it is built in all mac systems across lines

I don't see this happening. Airport is not neccessary for everyone, espically on desktop systems. It would simply add to much to the overall cost of lowend systems. On the otherhand, if it was standard and you were given the option of removing the card for $100 less I would be all for it.

But if the cost of the machine stayed the same and you were given an airport card, I guess I could always sell it on ebay.

If and when the G5's come out this summer, do you think that they will be on every level of the pro line? Or will it only be available on the top, or two top models?

I hope this is not the case since I will be buying the $1699 model this summer whatever it is. I guess I might fork over the extra money if $2299 got me a g5, but I would prefer a lowend g5 over a midrange g5.

It is called a roadmap
If you had posted to as many of these theads as I have you would know it off by heart. G5 = 800MHz - 2GHz+ just like the G4 = 1GHz+

Firewire and Ethernet are not necessary for most users either but they still come standard. It would not suprise me if they SLOWLY started adding Airport stanard into the machines, along with Bluetooth. I would imagine they would start with the portables and then work their way around the board over time.

I expect we will not see g5 until mwsf, but it would be verrrry nice.

What it comes down to is that, at MWNY, we are going to HAVE to see something new. It could be a redesigned G4 but I would hope that it is a G5. If it is not a G5, Apple will really start falling behind the market. At least a G5 at MYNY would be like MacOS X.0, a product that has known failures but through release has had them worked out.

It seems like apple strategy is less about hardware and more about ease of use at this point (software, etc.) The only product that is "due" for an update is the TiBook

hehe

**** yo!...i was thinking the exact same thing when i read it...then i saw yours and said ****

ok, a few things here...

if there is a new roll-out of redesigned G4s or new G5s, when do you all think those will hit the street? when will the announcement(s) lead to a price drop on the current line?

also, if the G5 is coming within the year, do you think current G4s will be upgradeable to the new chip? will new bus speeds prevent this?

I really should stop reading this stuff cos I'm in the market to buy in June and I'd hate to be the last on the line for current G4. I'd really be fuming if a redesigned line adds audio inputs, etc.... and all of this reading is making me nervous! I just need to bite the bullet and buy!

sinbushar posted spam. (Picture his one sentence post repeated 200 times.)

I reported it, and Arn edited out all the repeated sentences.

Stuff like that just wastes loading time and space.

I hate to say this, but Apple is behind the market already, otherwise it would not be 5% or less.

That being said, Apple seems pretty comfortable in its niche catering for its highly loyale market. I for one am switching from PC to mac as soon as the next powerbook comes out, however, I'm not loyal, I just see macs as better.

If they don't revise the product I want, I'll find another laptop from someone else, doubtless, another pc, but with 3 gig chip or some other crazy specs that no amount of megahertz myth advertising will be able to defuse.

Dear Lord,

Please make Jobs do something at New York.

St. McIntosh,

Pray for us sinners and give us the G5

St. QuickSilver

Pray for us sinners and bump Powerbook's speed

St. Tibook

Pray for us sinners and give us a mobile superdrive or iDVD that works with an external firewire DVD-r

St. Jobs

Pray for us sinners and give me a better reason to buy an apple and kick the fallen angel Gates to the curb.

God's hand reaches down from Infinite Loop, full of what looks like all manner of new Macintosh goodies .....

And then you realise it's only firewire 2. Oh s h i t.

If you bought an EOL G4, life would not be so bad. SURE, a G4 is not as fast as a G5 BUT if you buy a G4 now you know that you arn't going to be plagued with design bugs. What happens if you buy the first G5 to realise that a small bug was not noticed or not fixable in time and you have to put up with it or sell your G5 for a G4?

G4 now = safe and FAST
