prefer my cooler iPad 2 than a hot new iPad with a better display - just me...

My guess is that you don't own both so it doesn't matter.

Some of my old laptops would practically fry my huevos. I BARELY noticed that the iPad 3 was a bit warmer than my iPad 2 AFTER it had been pointed out in the media. Seriously, this is not a big deal and I'm surprised it's gotten as much attention as it has.

They broke the iPad sales record, so its no surprise that the haters have to find a way to make it look less important hehe :D

I have not noticed any heat issues with my new bundle of joy!

ITS FUNNY THE IPAD3 REALLY DOES MAKE YOU FEEL HAPPY ITS AMAZING.. WHEN HOLD IT AND USE IT IT just LOOKS SOOOO DAMN GOOD EVEN MY SHINEY NEW MAC BOOKK PRO does not make me as happy as my ipad3..:D

guessed wrong...

No, I didn't.

No problems with my iPad 2 - runs cool.

Comparing the iPad 2 to the new iPad (Retina) at the Apple Store next to eachother - the new one definitely runs hot, and gets hotter when running graphic intensive apps (all across the back).

Unacceptable to me and not worth the better display because of it. Maybe a software fix?

Glad I'm sticking with my iPad 2...

And what software fix would you expect? Something that disables the additional processing power from the graphics portion of the processor? Sorry, but there's nothing to fix. It's not that warm and based on documented stories about exactly how warm it is, it's much cooler than a lot of laptops.

50% huh lol!! Why don't you just turn it off and look at it. Good work around there.

Uhh its not a work around. Thats where I kept my iPad and iPad 2 at as well. I don't see why people feel the need to burn their retinas with ridiculous brightness. That's the default brightness for all iPad's and its perfect unless you're in direct sunlight.

Well, because if you dont put it at 100%, and use it for 5 hours straight, you can't complain about the burning heat! hehe :D
