Like antennagate?
If this had been any other company you'd all be reaming them out and laughing at their poor testing... this sort of heat increase in a handheld/lap product is inexcusable.
It seems a majority of this media stemmed from an engadget post which referenced a forum post here with "Overheating" in the title. When reading the thread it was obvious that the user was complaining about it being warmer than his old iPad, not actually overheating.
After that Engadget became the source to the claims on other sites and somewhat "validated" them because of their reputation.
So now it has come full circle, with apple issuing a statement and it being posted on MR.
All because the new iPad is a few degrees warmer than the old one.
If by a "few" you mean 10 degrees, then yes.
There's a laughable over reaction to all of this. It's just a tiny bit of heat. I've used my iPad now for 4 or 5 hours straight. I played Fifa, Real Racer HD, mucked around with Garage Band, and there was a slight increase in temperature, but certainly not anything "too hot". Just mildly warm.
Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill!
If by a "few" you mean 10 degrees, then yes.
By a "few" we mean 1.8% hotter than an iPad 2.
Oh, the horror.
The heat really isn't that bad.
