Looks like we will see the iPhone 6 in September. I'm wondering what will happen to the 2 model system? last year we had the iPhone 5C and the iPhone 5S, with this year brining a iPhone 6 will there also be a 6C? or will Apple drop the C model line and just release the iPhone 6  either way i hope they release 2 sizes, the 4.7 and the 5.5 would be nice :)

The smaller iPhone may be available then, and any other models in the fall.
Nope. No iPhone can be released without a major new version of iOS for critical marketing reasons. As iOS 8 will go into beta on 2 June, there is no way it will be released by August. MacRumors should know better than to say otherwise.

Looks like it'll be a four model system.
5C
6 4" (in the current 5s chassis)
6 4.7"
6 5.5"

Prediction

iPhone 6c =4", w/ 5s internals in plastic version of iphone 6 design, sept launch
iPhone 6 = 4.7" released in sept
iPhone 6s= not released until 2015 (maybe in summer instead of fall), 5.5 inch, possibly with sapphire screen (s= size/sapphire)

This better not be for the iPhone 6 unless Apple wants to continue to lose market share to Android.

This is for the iPhone 6, and Apple doesn't care a fig about market share, they care about how much profit they make (*), and they make lots of profit.

There are different points on the market share vs profit graph and they've picked this one and they aren't doing too badly. Samsung are also not doing too badly, everyone else is doing really badly.

(*) Actually Apple also care about design and quality and user experience, or at least what they consider to be good design, good quality and a great user experience. That drives them towards the lower market share, higher margin end of the business which has worked out very well for them.

Exactly - I think MacRumors should know better as well. iOS8 is going to be given to devs in about 2 1/2 weeks and it's going to be an alpha. There will be new stuff which doesn't work yet, old stuff which has been fixed and older stuff which has been broken, some unintentionally. August is 3, max 4 betas after that and it's not long enough to curate iOS8 unless there are no major changes in it.

The usual pattern is for the dev forums still to be buzzing with 'this is nowhere near gold master' in mid September when it actually does go gold master.

6 4.7"
6 5.5"

In that case i hope they release them this year, i don't like the idea of just the 4.7" and then having to wait another year just to see the 5.5"

Even though we now know pretty much what it will look like, what features it will have and now when it will come out, I'm still looking forward to the actual introduction and availability. I bet there will be at least one surprise.

I hope it's the camera. I think they really could do a lot better job than they do. Some of the other telephone cameras take really great photos.

Anyway, I'll always buy the latest iPhone. It's like a habit. They are such truly superior pieces of consumer technology.

I was pretty sure the August rumors were never true as Apple, especially under Cook, doesn't make too many surprises any more and likes to stick to an annual schedule so a September roll-out is likely when the new iPhone will be available.

However, Cook said earlier this year that Apple would be releasing new products in 2014. So when/what would this be? I can't imagine him announcing the iWatch at the same time as the iPhone 6? I think Jobs would have done this with his, "Oh, one more thing..." but Cook? Nah.

So will 2014 just be refreshed iPhones and iPad's ... again? Ugh.

Because of this rumor, the company I work for is also restricting employee vacation time and long lunch breaks in September.

There's nothing Apple can do to stop losing market share to Android. Only Samsung can change that by releasing Samsung smartphones and tablets with Tizen OS on them. Samsung doing that would result in a huge drop in Android smartphone sales and that would basically be the end of the Android smartphone and tablet platform. All that would be left would be minor Android players mostly losing money and likely major developer support would also vanish. I can hardly wait to see Android's rapid demise as Wall Street scrambles to find some new hero to supposedly undermine Apple's future.

Lol'd at those people who are so antsy and can no longer wait anymore. During the pre-iPhone era, most people here in North America were just happy with their ugly and stupid Samsung flip phones as long it is free and can make a call (even with choppy signals). Yes, people here prefer those stupid dumb phones over the gorgeous Nokias etc.

Please

Apple,

I can not afford to update everything at one time please roll out products in a more staggered situation. :roll eyes:

This is a rumor site. Please stop using logic.

I've got a 2011 mini with an SSD installed, so I don't need an upgrade, but I always love seeing updates to the Mac Mini. It's such a fantastic machine!

I have a 2010 model Mini that I rarely use. I haven't had Internet in over a year. I'm moving June 1st and will have Internet again. So I might use the Mini a little bit more but not much. All I use it for is to store my photos off my iPhone. Other than that it is just used to surf the web.

I'm much more of a mobile person. I had a MacBook Pro years ago and I sold it after a few months. I like holding devices in my hand. Hence why I use my iPhone daily as my media device and enjoy time on my Nintendo 3DS.

I still can't believe I don't own an iPad yet. But right now finances are more than tight, so it'll be another year or two. =(

I don't really see Apple doing anything in August. I know they've done it once before for (i think iPod), but with their global retail expansion, August really is a "dead time" for summer vacation. It's become something they won't touch with a 10 ft pole. If you read anything about "August", take it with a grain of salt.

So, on to September, back to normal. My greatest concern (for Apple, PR wise) is if they do 2 separate releases (4.7 Sept, 5.5 Nov) and they communicate these separately (PR in Aug, PR in Oct). Regardless of when they release the actual product, the PR Event communication should be at the same time so that people can objectively say, 'Yes, I would wait 2 months for the 5.5" screen'. If people only hear about the 4.7 and that goes on sale, Apple will have a bunch of ****-talkers in their Customer group when they surprise them later with a 5.5" screen.

I hope they don't fumble this.

Naah... even if they do that, it won't be a big deal. Folks on the blogosphere will have a conniption, but then 2015 will roll around and nobody will care anymore.

iPhone 6 - September 19th -- 23rd

Apple normally released iPhone's on September 20th - 23rd. Therefore, the iPhone 6 will most likely be AVAILABLE on this time frame. The announcement will obviously come prior through either a special Media Event or conference / trade show.

Umm, Samsung has <30% Android smartphone market share and 2/3 of them are junk which's sold <$99/piece in Walmart stores. So the rest of 70% android phone market shares do just fine without Samsung. Including tablets, Samsung still takes <40% Android market. How can that be the end of Android if it is still >50% of all mobile OS market share (currently Android > 81% all mobile OS, Samsung <40% android share or <30% of all mobile OS share)?
If you wait to see android to vanish, it'll be a long long wait or never happens. The only reason for that to happen is they lose law suit for OS imfringement to both Oracle and later if any, Apple.

Gotta say, now that I don't work at Apple anymore: This is the one rumor that happens at least once a year that is absolutely never true. Apple never restricts vacation for retail employees. I've requested time off 3 weeks before a product launch and gotten it, and I've also been flat out not scheduled to work on a product launch.

I've worked in tons of different stores from flagship to 1x2 (1 row of two tables + accessory and Genius Bar) stores. There are always more than enough employees to cover a launch. They only restrict vacation if a high number of team members request the same dates off, and that doesn't change, regardless of the time of the year.
