But, but ... you all know that iPhone 14 is already being sold with USB-C to Lightning Cable, MagSafe is USB-C and many other devices from Apple have a USB-C Power Adapter inside the box, right? It is by far not everyone who needs a new charging brick if not upgrading from a significantly older iPhone. As MacRumors wrote above: "...Lightning chargers that they may already own." #justsaying.

Why? USB-C has been the standard wall plug connector for several iPhone generations. Many purchasers well no doubt already have such a wall plug.
Most people skip a few iPhone generations. Such a dongle only costs a few cents to manufacture and easily fits in the box. It would be a better measure against e-waste than having to throw away USB-A chargers. It would have made sense to do this from the first generation that included a charging cable with USB-C connector.

Yep cause removing the charger was a purely profit motivated move. An easy extra charge. They said it was for the environment but it wasn’t.
Sorry, but much as you might want that statement to be true, it simply isn't. The unbundling of chargers is, like the standardised adoption of USB-C, something that's being mandated by the EU. Whilst this may or may not benefit Apple financially (bare in mind Apple also fought against this), your bold statement that it's purely profit motivated is just confirmation bias.

With Apple's iPhone 15 series launch potentially now just two weeks away, Apple retail employees are reportedly being drilled to emphasize to customers at the point of sale that the switch to USB-C means the new devices cannot be charged with existing Lightning chargers that they may already own.
Nowhere in the link is any sort of "drilling" or any overt demands on the staff mentioned.

Kinda strange to me that they don't have some kind of charging recycling program where you can bring in your old usb A plugs to get a couple bucks off a new apple certified usb-c one.
That way unnecessary e-waste is reduced and everyone has what they need to use their phones
Not really... Apple will tout things like "sustainability", "privacy", and "eco-friendly" so long as it helps them sell phones. They don't really believe in any of that.

Outside of audiences like this - probably a very necessary, smart even, thing to be doing. I imagine there's going to be a lot of people snapping the male end in half trying to jam a lightning cable into the socket.
True. I’m thinking of my mom, for example. She’d have no clue about this and therefor would end up buying a phone she doesn’t have a charger for AND that doesn’t come with a charger.

You do realize this wasn't Apple's decision? This is why I've been saying, and being laughed at for it, that the EU law is ridiculous and doing the opposite of what they wanted, environmentally, as will their law that forces phones to have a removable battery. So many more will end up in landfills instead of being recycled when people trade in their phones.

Breaking news: staff at store told to sell products
Hopefully they're not taking it overboard. About a decade back, Best Buy caught flak because their store employees working as cashiers needed to push them Monster cables on customers. They were VERY aggressive about it (as if their jobs depended on it) to the point where customers were irate, and arguing with them. Managers got bonuses and vacations if their store met quota.

I mean if you're buying a new iPhone and you don't know what USB-C is, you have serious issues.
Especially since the there have been USB-C to Lightning cables. The only positive to this is many customers will already have a USB-C block. I won't let my mom get her phone, because she would be the one to buy the block again. lol.

This isn't new. They'v been doing this since they removed the charger from the box. I remember when they first removed it and I went to pick up my iPhone on launch day. The staff was insistent that I needed their charging brick to get the maximum effectiveness and charging speed for my new iPhone. I declined.
Yep. Went through this last year when I got my 14 Pro. Picked it up in a store and the Apple employee came back with a charging brick when he got my phone from the back. I had to decline to buy it three times before he finally gave up. It was honestly the most off putting experience I have ever had in an Apple Store. I had never had an Apple employee so clearly try to push a product on me and be so unwilling to listen when I said I didn’t need it. Really highlighted that the removal of the charging brick was about padding profit margins rather than environmentalism (which we all knew, but still…).

Apple never really cared about environment and added waste. All their care about is making bucks.

(and I get it, what else should they care about as a company in the capitalist world?)

I've been an iPhone customer for many years, and I never even knew that Apple made or sold Lightning AC Adapters!!! I've never even seen one, and nor would I buy one.

I've only seen their USB-C and USB-A chargers, along with Magsafe chargers distributed with older MacBooks.

I’m surprised Apple doesn’t charge extra for the box.

“You can have your iPhone, here you go…or would you prefer a sealed unit for only $19?”

Why would they? Apple want to make money out of you. As much as possible. They don't care about anything else.

If they cared they'd be a simple $2 dongle in the box allowing people to utilise their existing Lightning accessories with the bundled USB-C cable.
