Rediculous.

Why produce stickers that are both environmentally unfriendly & use up more resources?? More chemicals, more paper, more deliveries using more petrol/ gas & adding to more garbage...

This is beyond stupid.

Their iPhone 6 is four years old, a dinosaur in the tech world, yet still in use by many of my peers and others around the world.

Also their iPhone is not upgradeable due to its form factor, but are completely repairable, I've replaced screens, batteries, cameras, speakers and transplanted an entire iPhone to a new shell.

If people are serious about having an opinion, they should do some research first.
No other manufacturer produces phones that last or are supported as long. I even see 4S's every once and awhile. Can't say that about any of the Android phones. Apple phones and tablets--great.

Laptops and traditional computers---not so great.

Previous to the iPhone, I had an expensive phone from an Italian designer. It cost almost a hundred dollars, !, but lasted for a third of a century, working perfectly the entire time, before I put it back in its box and sold it for $400 on eBay. Objectively the best phone purchase I ever made.

And it looked damn good on my desk. And it never needed security updates. And was ergonomic and comfortable too. And the Ui was slick, clean, and instant. And it didn't bug me when I was busy or away doing other things. Come to think of it, there are a lot of days I miss the reliability of that phone.

A couple years ago I plugged in my grandmothers old Bakelite phone and put it on my desk at work. Picked up the receiver and got a dial tone, after what 75 years... That is one comfy phone.
Must be hard carrying those around in your pocket

**Unbelievable**

Apple GiveBack
Good for you
Good for the planet

****

Should be

Apple Take
Good for Apple
Stuff the planet

This is from the very bast&@ds that glue batteries, solder CPU and RAM in products, and also do dammed best to stop users Repairing, prolonging product life.

Green ?
Only Dollar green!!!!!

@@@ Apple Fu&k you @@@

Apple should make their products more usable for a longer period of time if they are serious with this whole environmental-awareness-sustainable-etc-thing.

Can you point to other manufacturers who have taken on what you suggested above?

Yeah, but how about some updates on the shirts too!!

I wonder who snuck this past Jony Ive. After all, a green leaf is way too close to silly skeumorphism and real life and the return of some intuitiveness of design into an Apple item. Isn't it possible the green leaf could distract the user? After all, users nowadays are ready for (and supposedly prefer) a clean interface. I find this quite shocking, but not dismaying because it's about dam* time Apple returned to something warm, intuitive, and interesting instead of grey, white, less white, flat, flatter, and medium grey.

Even though I have an X, I still use my almost 4 year old 6+ around the house.

Why throw it away? It could be easily sold and used by someone else, if needed.

I have a Thinkpad t540p, if in future when warranty expires I can order replacement parts via Lenovo.
Lenovo also make Hardware Maintenance Manual easily available for public, for tricky part replacements Lenovo also have a video guide available for public.

Try finding similar for Apple products !!!

Product Green, with money donated to the WWF or other charities. I'd like that, a green iPhone would look stunning (although a blue one would be my favourite).

A limited edition, bright green iPhone case for could be a pretty simple, fun and likely popular way to acknowledge Earth Day.

That Hardware Maintenance Manual above is for certified/trained third party repair facilities, not end users.

An iPhone case and a Watch band would be really easy to make. They sold the pride watch band so how hard would it be to make the earth day one?

I agree! The iPhone 6 & 6+, as well as the iPhone 7 & 7+, are repairable to a point! The issue is more with the newer MacBook & MacBook Pro's, as well as the iMac's, are less serviceable! Most of this is lazy engineering by not thinking how to design in repairability into the product.

Ha Ha,

Use more resources just to make a bright green iPhone case for Earth Day
You gotta be having a joke here ?

Planet is already collapsing and close to tipping point.

My guess is most people, outside of people who regularly hang out on tech forums, likely do not want a heavy, 1+ inch thick laptop (or phone) that's user-repairable.

I sure don't, and I'm technically oriented.

Likely my neighbors (a teacher, plumber, writer, construction contractor, landscaper, fireman, lawyer - a cross section of Apple's customer base) who also appreciate thin and lightweight laptops would also not want to try and repair them on their own, even if they were qualified to do so.

Next year, Tim will have those leaves colored electronically via AR so he can proudly report another 10% waste reduction on Earth Day paraphernalia.

If you believe theyre helping the Earth then maybe you may also understand why having a big notch on an overpriced phone screen also cuts down on display real estate which also saves the planet in the long run too?

Good. Now pass your credit card here and we will help to make it more eco-friendly by “lightening” it for you.

Whoo Hoo - let us all focus on green leaves and disassembly robots - don't look at the stock price cratering / lack of meaningful new products (what do those 12,000 employees in the Spaceship building do?). Notice how Cook has stopped popping off about his amazing pipeline of new products?

That Hardware Maintenance Manual and video tutorial is not behind a closed door or wall, both are publicly available, so if end user wants to peruse through the manual and attempt a fix then they can freely do so, that choice is open.

Greenpeace's existence depends on having something to complain about. (note, I'm not saying they shouldn't exist, or I don't support at least some of their efforts). So of course they will find something to complain about even when a corporation, whose sole existence is to make money, manages to make great accomplishments in reducing its climate impact. They always seem to make perfection the enemy of the good.

iPhones last way longer than Android phones, so aren't they already doing that?

I wonder if they considered the environmental impact on merely swapping the leaf to green? Surely these bits aren't saved year over year to be reused again?
