They need to fix their stores. Always takes 20 minutes just to check out cause all the workers are busy. It was better when they had dedicated cash registers instead of just people floating around. That is, if you can even figure out who the employees are. Different color shirts, some are wearing shorts and sandals, they look like hipster doofus college kids, not employees on the job. Bravo for changing to a single color shirt, it's long overdue.

Yeah......they sure don't.....

I used to make fun of the salepeople who would check me out. I would say "must suck having to use Microsoft's technology to run your commerce when you guys claim their software is inferior..."

Is your life so sad that you have to do that? I hate people who are rude to sales staff, they lack basic courtesy, which is clear that you do.

peace.

Yes, this is precisely the reason why I hate working in retail. Customers bring me all their troubles and worries as though I'm the president of the company, and could actually do something about it. I get paid by the hour. My job is to take your money, nothing else. Moving right along...

I agree. I am a college kid who works 3 jobs to get through uni and I get rude people. I am polite but I get some rude dumb people and they really spoil it. They ask me stupid questions like why the price of things have gone up. Honey, do I look like make the prices? You greet them, they don't bother to answer back. They chuck the change on the counter. Don't even bother to be polite. Just basic manners costs nothing. Thank goodness for the nice people who occasionally brighten the day.

peace.

I liked having the different colors. If you aren't a complete moron it isn't that big of an issue - oh wait, 99% of the general public are morons. My bad.
+1 ;))
Such a hassle to just buy a product... cannot believe it.

BTW, there is always store.apple.com available for you guys, just for you, waiting for your credit card!

Also, how often you guys are actually going to buy stuff from Apple stores to care THAT much about the color of those Tshirts?! Hmmm...

I don't get everyone lol, I've been to quite a few Apple stores in the UK, I got to Meadhowhall store Regularly, every two weeks or so, since its my local, then I've been over the years too

1. Regent Street, London
2. Southampton, West Queue
3, Milton Keynes Store
4. Arndale Centre Store
5. Trafford Centre Store
6. Bullring Apple Store
7. Liverpool One
8. London White city store
9. Glasgow Buchanan Street store

and all of them stores if I remember correctly have two or more iMacs at the end on a maple wood desk with scanners and also run Mac OS X, to deal with card or cash payments, the portable cash points are convenient for people in a hurry or people buy something small like an iPod shuffle or software etc.

In that case u might want to visit your local best buy store. They all wear same color polo's. Pants and shoes. They have checkout registers.

The change in colors is a great idea but regarding sandals and shorts, that's just apple. Different people being themselfs. They are not a company of suit and tie in retail. Believe me their numbers shows they are doing something right.

Oh and as in for the "takes 20 minutes yo cash out because they are busy" it's called being a store in high demand. If u don't like it make your purchase online. It's Luke people who get upset for waiting in line on christmas eve.

Apple had 130+ employees. Ummmm 130+! They even have hand held devices to make it better for customers. Tell me of stores that have these features, oh and that are in demand not a store that us empty.

They have personal shopping for peoe who don't want to wait in line and it's free of service. And when they help u, they spend their time and ask u questions And help, not push u a product.

Having all of this apple can't help having high quantity of volume. U as a customer have options. Buy when it's less packed, online, or schedule a personal shopping. Believe me it's not easy handleing large volume. It's even worst when people don't appriciate it when a company like apple shells out a lot of money for features to help out people like you. Who want to ealk into a VIP store with no customers and pay in one second.

No store provides HALF the features of what apple offers to make purchased easier.

Ps if I misspelled words, I'm on my iPhone.

Really? How immature. I'd be embarrassed if I was you, to be honest.

Well no, its not as simple as that. Generally speaking, most members of the general public won't be die-hard mac enthusiasts who post in topics about Apple stores on forums like me and you. Generally speaking once more, most shops here usually only have two varieties of uniforms - the sales assistants and the managers. So to walk into a shop and see various people with various coloured uniforms - uniforms that are rather informal - can easily be confusing.

I hope this is going to be a good thing. One of my growing frustrations with Apple is you need to wait for a "Mac Specialist" in order to buy a computer. I went into the Apple Store last night to buy a Mac Mini. This will be my 5th Apple computer at home so I know exactly what I want. I find a sales person and tell them what I wanted. They said "Have I checked with the concierge?". So I got do that and have to wait 20 minutes while other sales people are just sitting around. In fact, I had a Mighty Mouse in my hard, and on two occasions sales people came by and asked if I was ready to check out. When I mentioned the Mac Mini, they say "oh" and disappear. I can understand the need for the "Mac Specialist", but in the case where the person knows exactly what they want, I don't see why anyone couldn't help me. I had the same problem a couple of months ago in a different Apple Store when I bought my MBP.

In any case, when I was checking out, I made a comment to the Mac Specialist that I'm sure they'll be happy when the get the iPod Touch based checkout units and he chuckled. He said it's the second time that day someone mentioned that, but he hadn't heard it officially. I smiled and said he should read Macrumors.

The stores are also eliminating the Concierge position (they will all become Specialists) in November.

The iPod touch EasyPay systems are supposed to roll out this Wednesday, from what I have heard. They look pretty spiffy.

How are they going to do Chip & Pin with these iPod Touches? are they going to have normal standalone chip & pin machines? what's the point, just do things normally that actually work!!! grrr

Going to be painful when you get a Fat-Fingered employee who can't type properly on the touch...... even worse than it is now!

The Florida Mall Store has a sectioned area at the counter for the register end of the genius bar (as in, "roped off"), and i've seriously never had to hunt for someone to pay in a store. I'm thinking some of you have more management issues than process issues - the process works reasonably well in a well run store.

Which is true of ALL retail locations... the management can make or break it.

I do think that flip flops should be outlawed on employees if they have toe nail fungus.... and the last genius i dealt with (not at the FM) had shorts on that i felt were on the ragged edge of acceptable.

I like the different color shirts - let me know who to dodge :D

Stores Are Popular With Spectators Not Customers

The reason the stores are so crowded (popular as Apple puts it) is because of the sheer number of people just wandering around in them with no intent to buy. I sat on a bench outside of an Apple store waiting on my wife to finish shopping in another store and 95% of the people leaving the apple store left with nothing. Probably due to the, "That Macbook Pro is really cool, but it's not $2000 worth of cool" concept. They look at the Macbooks at the Apple store, but at the end of the day buy a Toshiba off the shelf at Wal-mart.
