I haven’t said it’s such a nightmare to be avoided, but there’s a significant part of users on this forums who would agree that macOS Tahoe doesn’t have a good Liquid Glass implementation, and I agree with them. Sure, it has nice features and I’m not judging performance here, but the UI needs some work, and if I could choose to install Sequoia on a new Mac, I’d do so until they polish the interface with the care macOS has always received in the past.

A significant number of the “vocal minority”. They don’t speak for everyone. If they did, Apple would have gone bankrupt a decade ago based on all the supposed “failures” they’ve had.

You really should stop making things up just to fit whatever you're outraged about.
Nothing made up, but rather an honest observation over many years. To some, the truth is hard to accept.

Outrage? Quite the contrary, after three decades as a very satisfied Apple Shareholder holding a significant number of shares, the value of my stock and robust dividends continues to be very rewarding.

One does not have to agree with the culture or everything a company does to profit handsomely. It’s good to be invested in Apple.

I think the "AIs" are out to pump stock on behalf of the people running them. Among the bots in tech blog comments sections, I doubt many are using increasingly-expensive computing power for no reason. Especially in a volatile stock market with little regulation. The AI Scam and overall atmosphere of greed are taking more notice every day. The Tech Bros have worn out any good will they had left with The People.
Being a bit skeptical in times like these might be healthy. It'll take time for people to get used to the new normal, whatever that will be. And basically more than 99% of the global population turned into old and outdated people as they haven't grown up with or gotten used to the "mental self-defense" needed to spot fakes.

But… this is macrumors with more or less ancient accounts (and a lot of the people behind them). Like mine's approaching being a quarter of a century old. And there's active moderation happening here.

Going off about "AI slop" and bots here, to boost Apple stock, is a bit ridiculous, imo. It reads a bit "everyone not agreeing with me must be fake", and completely ignores any and all context. Like that about mental self-defense goes both ways. You need to be more alert about what's fake, but you must also spot when it's very unlikely to be fake without relying only on your biases, which would just put you in a bubble of denying anything and everything that doesn't fit with your own thoughts and preferences.

If you want to get paranoid about bots boosting stock you should head on over to Reddit and look into penny stocks, and everything having to do with crypto and meme coins and whatnot. AI bots on MacRumors trying to move the Apple stock just isn't an issue, and I'm sure the mod would catch it quickly enough.

Nothing made up
Ok, then let me put it in other words: You're ignoring the context; and that's making what you're saying a falsehood.

You wrote "Apples ego is revealed as they brag" when the context here is that they released information to their developers, about things that developers want to know. It's up on https://developer.apple.com/

If Apple had blasted this on https://www.apple.com/newsroom/ I perhaps could have ceded a bit to your point, but even that would have been sort of normal marketing. If they'd had extra amazing number of people wanting Liquid Glass I would expect it to be up on https://www.youtube.com/@Apple and out as an ad. I'd expect any and all businesses with the resources to quickly produce content to do that. It's standard operating procedure for them, not ego.

I hated iOS 26 before installing it and I was very vocal about it. But I was wrong. Even on my iPhone 12 it runs flawlessly. I was expecting a ton of bugs etc but I can’t say a single bad thing about it. Lesson learned: don’t take internet forums and Reddit too seriously
You got to be kidding...
it's a disaster on 13 mini and the keyboard problem is the absolute worst bug I've ever encountered. And really ruins the user experience
The rest is annoyances with overlays blocking input fields, waiting indefinitely for mail messages to load/show etc.
Accidentally we left my wife's iPhone 12 mini on iOS 18. And compared to mine that one runs flawless...
I hear no iPad complaints from the kids but the iPhones I really would pay Apple to be able to revert.

I have stutter scrolling when browsing. I have stutter scrolling in apps. I have delays in text windows as the OS decides a rainbow animation is more important to me than the task at hand. I have glitches where keyboards appear without keys filled in, regardless of app, requiring resets. Those are merely top of mind; I’m not spending another second thinking of iPadOS 26 behaviour that I find egregious.

Outside of the UI/UX being a visible downgrade, which it is, it wouldn’t bother me too much as I have no real alternatives. There is no competition to the iPad for how I use it. I’m not in the market for a new phone. On the desktop I don’t want a giant, obnoxious, and noisy box running an even more annoying OS: Windows 11 annoys me on my gaming PC and that’s hardly going to get better if I use that computer for all of my work and play, not just gaming; I’m not diving down the tinker-hole of Linux for a main PC anytime in the next few years.

Even so, I am indeed entitled to complain about issues that are provably extant. You are entitled to have both a different experience and a different enjoyment and thus a different position.

Now c’mon Apple: release macOS 7 to your macOS Vista this autumn… you did not earn your position by being the sole alternative to the MS juggernaut, you achieved it by being genuinely superior for people like myself.

Stutternhas been a thing that has been complained about for years in various places. I have not seen the keyboard glitch you describe either in iOS 26 or iPadOS 26.

It’s not imo.

Absolutely. People will have a differing experiences.

Your perception of iOS 26 is perfectly justified not downplaying it. I’m not having the same downgraded experience as you claim.

Another true anecdote. My wife didn’t notice. On her iPad Pro and iPhone 14.
Turning on ‘tinted’ was the only thing I can do.

She doesn’t understand why everything has gone transparent. She’s over 70 and has to have the UI zoomed in and this is not great for her at all.

I quite liked Liquid Glass when I first had 26.0. Now I’m of the opinion that it’s a mess.

They finally got me with 26.3. 18.7.3 is no longer secure so there’s that. I may be in the minority here, but I have been enjoying 26.3. It has been running better than 18.7.3 on my phone. FaceTime was sluggish with 18.7.3 in comparison. I’m also enjoying Liquid Glass. Maybe 26.0 was a train wreck, but 26.3 seems ok to me. I’m glad I waited.
Do you have OS 26 on you computer?

I’m just now noticing (and the methodology has been consistent: I checked) that this count is about devices that transacted on the App Store... in a specific day (!!!)

My 16 Plus on iOS 18 wasn’t counted, my Xʀ on iOS 12 wasn’t counted, etc.

See the issue? iPhones running older versions of iOS don’t transact every single day. Newer iPhones with people installing newer apps are more likely to do so.

Now I’m questioning the validity of this information. I have been checking this for years and I had never noticed that. Massive error on my part.

This is almost a random cut of devices on that day. There’s too much margin for error. If it were a month I’d believe it more.

In any case Apple. Count it for a full month, allow unfettered downgrading from the Liquid Garbage and try again.

Yeah 7 in total. 2 iPhones, 2 iPads, 2 AW and 1 ATV. Plus one iPad on 18.7.4. (And a partridge in a pear tree).
The contrast is a little funny!

6 iPhones, 3 iPads and 1 Mac

Fully updated? 1 iPhone. An iPhone 5c running iOS 10... which bootlooped on its own on iOS 9, and has been in a drawer ever since.

I have an orange tree if you like?

Please go into details here about why Tahoe is such a nightmare to be avoided?

I'm on Tahoe, and has been since the public betas. M4 Mini and M5 MacBook Pro. Works flawlessly. Great upgrade, no trouble whatsoever.

If you want me to stretch into the negatives that would be that it shouldn't be installed on a 2019 Intel-based MacBook Pro. That was the last straw that made me retire it. But, tbf, it was beyond the ~5 years that I expect a MacBook Pro to last me.

Edit: I should add that ~5 years is essentially minimum what I'd expect. With the platform change and different requirements for AI I'm absolutely happy with 5+ years. The longest one has lasted me was about a decade.
I run some very specific programs and they simply perform quite bad in Tahoe. For this and testing reasons I updated my Mac Mini M4 to the latest Tahoe, but my Macbook Air M4 is still on Sequoia. The latter performs still much much better than the Mini running Tahoe.

That's fair, and it's a very professional response. You've got a unique case, and you verified it before going full in. Programs not having been upgraded, or where you occasionally need to stick to an older version, needs to be taken into account.

My "problem" is with that most people that are what we might call passionately against certain things (in this case Liquid Glass) are acting weird. Some of them have made that cult their personality simply because they at first saw something they didn't like in a picture, and some seem to treat not installing security patches for years as some stroke of tech genius by which they seem to think that they're outsmarting Apple (or whatever company it's about).

I would downgrade because the UI doesn't adapt to smaller phones like my still very useful iPhone mini 13. the bevels etc are designed for larger screens, obscures text field in Messages.

That's because you/we are at least partially inside this bubble filled with grumpy old men throwing a major tantrum because they've reached that age where if anything changes even slightly too much they're going to die on their lil hill of the good old days. 😂
This is MR gold, Jerry. Gold.
