It's what Apple should do, and if you pay attention to Eddy specifically referencing Indy Artists it should be clear that Apple will break up the Music Industry Cartel by directly catering to Indy Artists.

I doubt Apple is about to spend "$9.99*71.5%" $7.14 per month on each and every customer for 3 months just so they can "try" this service. As much as I wish this was the case, I truly doubt it is.

Lame management that should have been addressed from the beginning, but great marketing the whole story created a buzz around Apple Music.
shouldn't have taken public pressure to pay royalties during free trial. If Spotify can do it, surely Apple with $175B can do it as well.

How has anyone not mentioned this yet? Spotify gives away 30 and 60 day trial's all the time, and still pays the same. Or, we're at least assuming they do.

Torrenting music in 2015 is pathetic, not this. For $9.99 (Spotify) you can basically listen to everything you want, and save songs offline.

For a lot of people it's a compromise. They get to listen to the music they want and support the artists at the same time.
They don't pay anything... It's a revenue sharing deal, like Spotify.
Presumably they will now divide ~70% of total Apple Music revenue to all artists including the play counts from the free trials.
Previously, the ~70% of total revenue was divided up, but excluding the play counts from the free trials.
Simple change that should have been done in the first place.
Before you all begin praising apple. Let's not forget they tried to rip artists off to begin with by not wanting to pay them.
I kind of wish they didn't do this. Apple needs to be the dictator here
