but refinement until the next breakthrough in technology.
We can refine the design, but that doesn't mean making it so thin, that it can easily bend, or the camera protudes outside of the body of the phone.

I agree, that apple is about refining, and making the [insert product] better, but I think there can be a great design without making the product wafer thin

These numbers are all well and good for the wall street type folks, but for me as a consumer, I'd prefer seeing some innovation and some cool products. What I hope we DON'T see soon, is a thinner laptop, a thinner iPhone, a thinner watch, etc. Apple has shown itself that it can really make some great products, lets just give up on the thin design and make a design that will turn heads, but also function great.
Making a MacBook, iPhone and Apple Watch thinner is progress and innovation.

Tell that to all other companies doing the same thing.

Apple is doomed!

But seriously...I hope they really bring it at WWDC. Lots of stuff in need of updates.

That doesn't make it right, or something I want on my phone... o_O
With the requirement of the lens to focus the light into the chip I don't see this phone bump going away unless you increase the phone's depth to even it out (could be fill with more battery space) or reduce the quality of the camera.

Sony has some tech in their labs that will reduce that bump but it's still a few years away.

Yes, poor design where the obsession over thin phones over-took common sense and good design choices.

Point taken, but I think a real world reason may be the fact that most ( not all ) people use a case. The thickness of the cases in conjunction with a flush camera would obscure the photo at times. With the "bump", manufacturers can have better optics and mitigate the " shooting out of a tunnel" effect when cases are used.

At this point, the Watch is the only product I can see benefitting from decreased thickness.

I already feel like my 15" RMBP will bend in half if I pick ip up just from the edge, it is PLENTY thin. If I wanted an even thinner laptop, I'd get a MB or MBA.

The Apple Car will displace the #2.

The Model 3 will, you mean.

Tesla won't spring up to take the #2 spot, but they'll put a big enough dent in Exxon to allow Apple to drift ontop of them.

The thing that most surprises me about this ranking is that AT&T is ontop of Verizon. I thought Verizon had more customers in every business and tended to charge more... how is AT&T managing to top Verizon on this list?

It doesn't bend. I guarantee you this.

I'm pleased where Apple is going driving down weight. That phones and laptops become thinner as a result is a plus.

Does Fortune compile a list just like this, with numbers, of the top US companies by profit? Why not?

I'd really like to see that list. No, not worldwide, just US companies. Just like this list, but ranked by profit; with numbers included. Thank you, statistics genie.

I think the AW is still on his "I need more power in a thinner design" period, agreed for the rest of the list.

That iDevice camera bump...

I don't understand people being surprised by the camera bump. It's simply a matter of physics. Light needs to be captured in a particular way, and that requires some "length" to the camera. A decent camera can not be paper thin. Just won't work with today's technology.

The thing is apple makes more profit than all of them already! I do honestly feel if apple does an apple car they should lower prices to reflect the profits of other companies as sucking that money up and putting it in a stash isn't helping the economy go round, they could buy a few countries with it at the moment they have so much stocked up.

I agree with you on not wanting a thinner MacBook Pro or iPhone, but I most definitely would want a thinner watch. At this point, the only thing holding me back from buying the Apple Watch is how thick it is.

How about Apple Watch band colors? Lol

As a professional Apple user for over three decades, I think Apple is doing very well. I actually have no idea how many Apple computers I've owned and used daily over the years. But the current i7 27" iMac is the best overall (though I really would love to see an updated Mac Pro).

I also love the Apple ecosystem with iPhone, Apple Watch, iCloud, Apple Music, etc.

Just this morning I took my Honda CRV into the local dealer for its first oil change. I brought my 12" 2015 MacBook along so that I could continue working on our new website, built with Adobe Muse CC, while I waited. Using my iPhone 6S+ in personal hotspot mode on AT&T, I connected easily Back to My Mac, and it worked very well.

I love the newer MacBook with its thin form factor and beautiful screen. I think Apple's strategy of a "think client" is a good one. I don't need much local storage or RAM beyond its 8GB as long as I can connect with my iMac. I also can't remember the last time I made a CD or DVD.
So refreshing so see some positivity on the forum. Keep up the good work!
