iOS7

This is probably the best news we could hear, at this point. If ios7 is truly different, and takes the interface to a new level, it stages apple for other changes.

Even though the hardware is always changing, inside and outside, I wonder if the hardware has been perfected to where Jony Ive has more time to focus on things like the interface.

I'm not worried about a flat interface that is boring. Remember, Ive created the original iMac with jetson-like bubbly pods in multiple colors. Good design can also be exciting and a little fun.

Then put it on a 5 inch screen. After having this HTC One for 2 weeks, I honestly will never go back to a 4 inch screen.

Oh yes you will. It depends on at least three things over which you have no control;

What screen sizes are on the market at the time.
The current fashion trend.
The march of technology, for example when 5G comes out and you decide that 4G is unusable you'll change.

Take your time, rather a good delayed iOS 7 than a crappy one with an iOS 8 which they call the 7 they could've make with some extra more time.

Shh... I think it's trying to communicate.

Like most others, I'd rather see a very good, polished, and well made iOS 7, so I don't mind if there's a delay for a while. I'm anxious though!

Wait a minute.

They had to put away people from OS X 10.9 to work on iOS 7. Hence the delay in OS X. And now they're telling us that iOS 7 will be delayed too?

How many people work there? I mean, they dropped iLife, Logic, Final Cut Studio, they're haven't been working on a Mac Pro for years... what are these people doing the whole day long?

Lol I always wonder the same thing. They have a lot of workers, but I feel like they use ALL of their resources for like 2 projects at a time.

This is cool and everything but iOS 7 better have the ability to make third party apps default. If all it is is a makeover for Apples stock apps then it will be cool for a couple days and that's it. It's time to add some new functionality to iOS.

beta testing?

Don't they usually preview the new iOS with the developers by now? I remember it happening as early as February. We haven't seen any screenshots yet. Won't the developers need time to adjust their apps for the new look? Perhaps we won't see iOS7 till 2014...

Sir Jony Ive must be the only person in the industry whom everyone loves without an exception :)

Rock on, Sir...

While this is good news, it really does show how Forstall squandered three years.

 I'm pretty sure all it shows is that Forstall (and Jobs) had different design philosophies for software than Ive. Amazingly, both can be very successful.

Honestly, I don't have any major issues with the UI of iOS. Yes, the settings menu is convoluted (but only in comparison to the rest of iOS), but the graphics themselves don't bother me much. Even the mismatched designs of the Messages and Music app doesn't cause any problems since the layout is intuitive, and the bubbly graphics are iconic.

Well, whatever. I wouldn't mind a change either, as long as it's a legitimately nice design. I'm not so sure I want the entire OS to be "Music app grey" for the next six years.

Previewed at WWDC and then given to developers for a September release, give or take.

Ive for Keynotes

For those saying Ie to do keynotes, I seem to remember him presenting at the unibody macbook pro keynote and he was pretty awful!

As long as the new theme isn't 'artsy stubble in a grey t-shirt against a white background' I'm OK with it.

What fantastic link bait. Such B.S. Apple isn't "risking" anything.

1) An "as soon as" timeframe isn't a deadline.

2) iOS7 will ship this year even if it's mostly aesthetic and not feature complete. It's not even debatable that iOS7 won't be released this fall. Apple does this all the time, adding in features with point updates.

3) Did rational people really think Apple could fire the old iOS chief midstream and replace him w/ someone with 180 degree different ideas and there wouldn't be a time penalty to pay? Is that really news to professional business reporting orgs like Bloomberg, because if it is then their staff is as wacky as its founder.

I really hope they sort out junk mail filtering in IOS. I'm fed up of getting 20+ spam mails a day.
