Gurman's newsletter also implies that the M3 Pro/M3 Max MacBook Pros will be released before the regular M3 MacBook Airs. That just seems really unlikely to me.
If they fix the jelly in portrait orientation, you'll just see it instead in landscape.A LCD mini with no jelly and an updated SOC sounds like a winner to me
I mean, Apple could alway choose to give away those iPads to schools and whatnot to maintain education market presence. It’s really up to them to commit, bars maybe legal pressures. The iPad line has run out of runway. Other than a very few specific verticals, they're pretty much just fancier Chromebooks. Some schools are buying them but fewer and fewer every year - the bottom dollar price is what gets you in K-12 and Google and Microsoft are happy to beat Apple on price no matter what that price point may be.
I love my iPad for photo editing, I think it's the best photo editing tool I've ever used. But that isn't a big enough market for Apple to devote tons of R&D toward with the company's scale today.
Hope iPad mini update materializes. For sure, I will get it. It does not matter if the updates are not major, updates are improvements from previous generation which make a current generation product a step ahead of the previous one👍🎉😊
Apple is making progress on new iPad and MacBook models, but Bloomberg's Mark Gurman believes that the release of these devices "won't happen this month."

"More often than not, the company debuts new laptops and iPads in October — about a month after the latest iPhone and watch get out the door," said Gurman, in his Power On newsletter today. "And while I reported in July that Apple was planning such a release this year, the latest indications are that it won't happen this month."
Gurman went on to say that new iPad Air, iPad mini, and entry-level iPad models are all in development with faster chips, but he does not believe that "updates of any significance are imminent." This wording is more vague compared to his above claim that iPad releases "won't happen this month" whatsoever.
Last month, Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said "new iPad models are unlikely before the year's end." If this claim is accurate, 2023 would be the first calendar year with no new iPads announced in the device's 13-year history.
As for MacBooks, Gurman expects the next 14-inch MacBook Pro, 16-inch MacBook Pro, 13-inch MacBook Air, and 15-inch MacBook Air models to launch in the first half of 2024. He did not comment on the iMac or other Macs.
Supercharged News and 9to5Mac this weekend both independently reported that Apple plans to announce updated iPad Air, iPad mini, and entry-level iPad models this week, citing sources. Both publications said the iPad Air will be updated with the M2 chip, and said the iPad mini will be updated with the A16 Bionic chip.
It should be a fascinating week ahead for the rumor mill. Who will be right? We will soon find out.

That was very well said. Computers are just tools that help us get things done fast so we don’t think about them no more.Apple is being smart, they know budgets are being stretched thin especially in an economy that’s somewhat in a recession. The focus I believe is to have major gaps between product launches so consumers can afford what they need instead of feeling pressured to buy every new gadget the company launches in 12 months.
M2 MacBook Pros in January
15 inch Air, as well as updates to Studio and Mac Pro in June
iPhones and Apple watches in September
That’s a reasonable gap between refreshes. The M2 13 inch more than meets the needs for its target audience. Rushing out an M3 model is not gonna necessarily make someone’s basic web browsing, Youtube, social media, email, Slack and Google/Workspace stuff any faster than it already is.
The same applies to the iMac too. The target audience is not looking for feeds and speeds. The just want a nice computer that’s on a table next to their bed or in the living room, they can watch Amazon Prime, Facetime the grand kids, manage their household budgets, look at their photos and maybe create a short 5 minute movie of their trip to the lake over the weekend.
None of this requires a super fast SoC to accomplish. You could very well accomplish this on a 2012 MacBook Pro.
I still see Intel iMacs in peoples apartments. That says something.
But I get it, we are obsessed with the latest and greatest sometimes out of curiosity. Give Apple the time to develop revs of these future products and enjoy what you have now.
Also, go outside, inhale the fresh air, go over to a family or friends house and talk and live in moment a little instead of these squares all day.

There is no point in putting an M series chip in the mini when the current and rumored chip can run it easily with much to spare, especially with the OS being the main crippling factor of the chips real ability. If the rumor about an A16 chip in the Mini turns out to be true, then Apple is out of touch with its customers’ desires. The Mini deserves nothing less than an M1 chip. Most Mini users see the devices as - or at least want them to be - higher end. And if the A16 is going to the Mini, it sounds like Apple will drag out the A15 yet again for the base iPad.
Frankly, I think both the Air and the Mini should have M2 chips with the M1 going to the base iPad. I personally think the Air and the Mini should be technically equal and simply offer two sizes. It’s time to leave the A-series chips to the iPhone.
But when is the last time Apple listened to its customers? As far as they’re concerned, the customer is Wall Street.
My vote is for Gurman. Even if he is wrong, these would be quite minor spec bumps not worthy of an upgrade from anything recent.
Why oh why won’t iPad mini have an M1 so that you can hook it to a studio display?
Odd that he's laying down that the M3 Pro and Max would be coming out before the M3 Air. I guess putting the M3 Air back would allow them to line up the 13" and 15" updates though.
That thought crossed my mind too however the new iPads last year came 2 days before the end of the Back to School promo. The UK still has the "Back to school" promo on until the end of the coming week so I don't see them releasing iPads until this has finished.

I hope its more than a processor bump unless that processor is the M series. If Apple does release a new mini 7, I may get one depending on how much difference there will be between the mini 6.

The A17 Pro is already as powerful as the M1The Mini deserves nothing less than an M1 chip
