What innovations did you expect them to make ?

Thats the thing about innovations. We shouldnt be able to pick it.

----------

My friend recently bought a Samsung 4.3" phone, rejecting the 5" device as absurd, uncharacteristic of a phone. I wonder why Apple would bend to competition with such a stupid idea? Perhaps the rumor points to a possible 5" micro iPad with the A5 inerts for 3rd world countries?

Stupid for some. Just as stupid as some view 4" smartphone in 2013 maybe. Maybe the most stupid idea is viewing your size as the perfect size for all??

Whatever the name will be, Apple NEED an iPhone with bigger screen. Sure there are some people who would take small size over anything else, but there are plenty other people who found 3.5-4 inch screen too small.

4" is the new 3.5" apple was a few years later to the party where everyone wanted screen real estate....

Well in that case, what innovations have you seen from android

I'll answer that

1. Panoramic camera
2. Photosphere
3. Taking pictures while shooting videos
4. Pull down notification
5. NFC
6. Live wallpaper
7. Customization
8. Front facing cameras
9. Ability to find and install apps from the web
10. Ability to download music free directly from the phone

Not including the Samsung features in the galaxy S III

I don't have a Pacer, nor does my sig claim I do. I just put the word "AMC Pacer" :)
I heard those things are really bad cars.

Most people put things in their sig that they "own" or have owned. Making fun of those people are you?

They were OK cars just ugly as sin.

1. The Samsung Jet in 2009 had Panorama
2. Same thing as Photosynth which Microsoft has and for which there's an iOS app already
3. Ok
4. Ok.
5. Been in mobile phones forever and that's not an Android innovation
6. Ok
7. Other phones have allowed customization. The ability to customize is not innovative
8. No chance...the N901iC back in 2005 had a front facing camera...secondly that's hardware and not an android innovation
9. Pirating is an android innovation?
10. Not an android innovation nor is such an ability endorsed by Google (it's just known as pirating)

So by my count you named three things, 2 out of 3 of those have been in Android for years, so my point stands. Android has not innovated anything in years (and neither has Apple).

incredibly off topic though it's funny you say that because the Pacer was actually said to be a "design icon" for its age.

Want a bigger screen?

Buy an iPad Mini - or buy another phone all together.

Ridiculous rumor.

You could not be more wrong. There is a strong market for these devices. You'll see as the years pass.

There used to be a strong market for Tamagotchi too.

What do phablets have to do with any of those things you mentioned? You could make that argument with literally anything.

Like I could easily say iPads are a fad, cuz remember when big hair and power ballads were THE thing? Yeah. See? iPads are gonna die just like disco!

Not really, those were just examples of other fads.

Phablets are ridiculously dumb, that's why we'll look back on them with shame one day. Tablets are a good idea and serve many useful purposes. An oversized phone serves the purpose of giving you increased productivity on a device you don't want to be productive on, or giving you a clearer view of games and family photos while cramping your pockets.

I knew there would be one which would reply without thinking.

The idea being, you have a - guess what - SEPARATE phone.

Phablet is a virus, just like the Netbook was.

You can say you see no need for a "phablet" but that doesn't make it remotely a virus. Apparently - they are selling very well and have been reviewed well too.

It's one thing to say a device isn't anything you'd remotely touch. It's another to take that view and put it on the entire consumer population. Get over yourself.

That's the flaw in your argument right there. Who doesn't want to be productive on a smaller device that's easily carried in one hand? Why is being able to put it in your pocket or not the dividing line between stupid and brilliant?

Different people have different needs and different expectations. You want to use your iPhone as mostly a phone with some options to look up information, view some quick pictures, and maybe do some other quick things. Some people might like to use their phones to read and edit documents on the go, get a more comfortable view of webpages, and...yeah, a bunch of other things that work better on a larger screen.

There is no such thing as one size fits all.

lol until apple release one and then they'll be the best thing ever.

why spend the extra money. lots of people rarely use their phone as a phone these days and even then use headphones to talk on it

why buy an iphone and ipad when i can just buy a galaxy note?

"The iPhone Math" ??

Where does Apple come up with these names.

I just hope they know they've just thrown the entire line of iPhone marketing off-balence.

I thought people in China would have smaller hands... I thoght that was a better exceuse.

Apple doesn't, stupid people do shoving out constant articles until people get obsessed with the idea and apple is forced to. So dumb. Please stop posting obviously false and stupid rumours!!!!!

This has been a fun thread to read.

"My opinion is fact! Let me convince you why you are completely wrong!"

"No! You are wrong and MY opinion is fact!“

Said the inhabitants of Lilliput and Blefuscu.

4.8 yes!!!!

I left the iPhone and it's small screen and didn't feel like the iPhone 5 screen was a big enough difference and that's why I went with the Nokia 822 WP8. I do like the WP8 OS, but if apple came out with a 4.5 or 4.8, I'd go back. We use our phones for so much with browsing and apps, its nice to have a large screen. I hope apple is finally getting the picture, I mean why do you think Samsung is making all these large screen phone. The SELL!!!!!!!

Oh my god thank you! Why should Apple offer a different option that people have wanted for awhile? I mean lets be realistic, the Note 2 and SGS3 have completely tanked. Obviously no one wants a larger sized screen.

The SIII was the top selling smartphone in Q4 2012, if that is "tanking" what is your definition of success?
