Apple will make its first product announcement of 2023 through a press release on its website tomorrow, Tuesday, January 17, according to Apple leaker Jon Prosser. MacRumors can corroborate an announcement is expected to take place this week.

The announcement could be one of several products expected in the near future, including updated MacBook Pros and Mac mini models.

The updated 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models are expected to feature the same design as the models announced in October 2021, with only updated performance thanks to the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips. An updated Mac mini is also expected to gain from the performance of new M2 chips, but rumors suggest it will feature the same design as the current model.

MacRumors has also learned Apple will hold briefings later this week with members of the press and media on the new devices ahead of review embargoes for the new products lifting next week.

My Mid-2012 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro recently died and I am holding a funeral service for it in the near future. Information on the venue and the viewing are forthcoming… <lol>

In the meantime, I am looking forward to learning more about the M2 Max 16-inch MBP and it’s release date, so I hope tomorrow’s announcement will bring us some knowledge about that

Whatever product it is, there’s one thing I can absolutely say for certain.
It will absolutely under no circumstances be based on a 3NM process.
Let’s drowned that kitten in the river right now, it’s not happening, it’s way too close to production just beginning within the last two months, nope nope nope, not a chance.
And I expect a lot of whining about that
’drowned that kitten in the river right now’ 😢

Do you really want an event for a minor spec bump on a couple of products? They haven't had enough new stuff to warrant an event since last September, so they haven't held one.
I honestly wouldn’t mind but these minor spec bumps are not as efficient as real-life Apple events. I just don’t like paying full prices for minor specs while Apple manages to charge full price. Apple tends to use old designs with minor specs and charge a hefty full price or more. Like what???

Seems most likely that it is the updates mbp. 15% faster in general, up to 40% faster graphics. Everything else stays the same. Great stuff but not worth it for upgraders.
Mini with m2. Studio not updated.

On another thread we were discussing what the M2 mini and a M2 Pro mini might be priced at and I was checking current mini prices on Apple. I noticed that all the custom orders seemed to be pushed out into February and it struck me as odd as I didn't think the lead time was that long now.

Also noticed that the 14" MBP sales all ended yesterday.

Can you imagine, that Apple would annonce, that they will drop the Mac computers alltogether? 😉
