I won't be upgrading from my 16 Pro Max no time soon. My phone will only be a year old by the time 17 lineups is revealed. I'm good. Just not spending more money for now. All my techs are among the latest, going back to iPhone 14 Pro(my wife's). Just waiting to see what's next.

Haha. I call BS. We will be stuck with that iPhone 17PM back design for the next 5 years.

I'm in the same boat. Over the last six or seven months I've upgraded to 16PM, iPad Mini 7 and M4 MBP, so I'm on the sidelines for awhile unless Apple comes at me with a serious "Wow!" release, which I honestly can't see happening.

Cool but not something that was never done before. We are about to get the 20 anniversary iPhone and with a redesign iPhone next year since this year will be the 3rd and last year of the iPhone 15 design. In 2027 it will be the iPhone 8 and iPhone X all over again but since Apple did away with the “S” models we will get the iPhone 19 Pro (iPhone 18 Pro design) along with the iPhone XX that will come in only one size and more $$$$. Come 2028 we will then get the iPhone 21 (iPhone XX design) along with a larger iPhone 21 Max. Which of course iPhone 18 design will be forgotten lol. Then the 3 year cycle will continue as per usual.

what about focusing on stability and software performance? what's the good in having so many iterations of the same design and the software is just trash at this point.

My 12 Pro with a new battery will see me through to 2027, as long as the software upgrades keep coming. After that it depends on prices - both how much the phone costs and how much everything else costs.

Good, let's see what they can do.

Doesn't change the functionality of the iPhone I use today that I was happy to buy 6 months ago.
No Mini = No Buy

(sorry, I know it really bothers some folks that us Mini users keep saying this)

Loved my mini, but having gone from 13 mini to pro max (if I can't have small I may as well have huge!) - the battery capacity is a game changer. For a device I spend so much time using, it really makes a difference. Difference between getting home in the evening on 25% vs. ... well, now I have charge limit set to 85%, say, 60 percent...

Not saying I don't miss the smaller phones, but refusing to buy just because of that you're missing some huge benefits. It's still an iPhone; just now you can get multiple days of battery life.

Anyone else want to see the 20th anniversary include a special launch of the original model but with all the latest chips, cameras, etc?

Apple has lost so much steam in their growth they are abandoning their tried and true hardware design principles to become like every other manufacturer that just throws a new form factor at the wall every year to see what sticks.

Hopefully this is true and a sign that Apple has seen the underwhelming reception to the leaks of the new design. Imagine thinking aping Google was the way to go.

They desperately need to get back to design being at the forefront of product development and start hiring people with the talent to resurrect what was a traditional strength. I’m afraid we’ll need to wait for Cook to retire though, he’s a brilliant bean counter but like Jobs said about Microsoft he just doesn’t have any taste.

I could see these features plus the thinness of the rumoured air - as to where they want to go.

(not sure how they will solve the optical zoom camera bump though).

Until then I will keep on not noticing the notch in my phone…

…But I’m glad that Apple is likely spending a huge amount of money in solving this non issue for me!
