I'm not an Apple fanboy but I don't think "The Interview" fits with Tim Cook and Apple management's general tastes. Cook might be socially liberal but I get the feeling that in terms of entertainment he's a square. He like U2. The iOS App Store remains stubbornly G-rated. iTunes promotes family friendly movies. Just the way they are.

Apple usually makes the right decisions, in most instances, but not here.

Those supporting Apple here, can you just explain why they wouldn't agree to stream the movie? There really is only one reason, isn't there? I don't get it. I'm one of the biggest Apple supporters around, including being a shareholder, but that doesn't mean I have to agree with every decision they make. That just seems irrational to me.

How is there only one reason when you don't even know what that is. And have you noticed the article title saying, Apple SAID to have declined.....Not Apple DECLINED. There has been no official word from Apple and if they decided against the movie why are you and few others so worked up over this nonsense?

Just like Microsoft decided to longer support Internet Explorer on the Mac. If I need I.E. I will find the computer that offers it. Just like this movie, if you can't get it on iTunes you find the source that has it. All this silly name calling and getting all worked up is ridiculous. And it's pretty obvious that many of these people here acting this way are the same individuals that tend to look for anything to blast Apple over.

Promotes? Or offers?

You can get other Seth Rogen and James Franco movies on iTunes right now. Unrated versions too!

Well this is more in line with a "promotion" than an offer. I mean I just think in terms of entertainment Apple's upper management tastes are pretty square. That's neither good nor bad, just a fact.

Sorry... maybe I didn't understand you.

You said Apple "promotes" family friendly movies.

But I said Apple also had tons of non-family movies on iTunes.

You're all wrong.

iTunes is not accepting anything for some time: app's, music, movies, tv shows.

The reason is simple: employees are on vacation.

I'm sure you meant to make some kind of point, but I don't see one.

Everyone is fodder for comedy. Some just take it better than others.

In fact, I'd say that a leader's reaction to a joke is usually inversely related to how free their people are. The more the leader is a dictator, they less humor they have about jokes about themselves.

Exactly but we have no proof that North Koreans reacted in ay way, and to be honest I see that in the past 10 years most US conflict came out from false information than anything else. Remember the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? So it's very typical of these machos to play strong with the weak and weak with the strong. I would like to see if all these machos would dare to post that they are watching a movie where the target is an islamic leader. Probably not since NATO is still licking it's own wounds and getting worse.

I am assuming that the the article is correct.. If it isn't, then obviously this argument is pointless, if they weren't give an opportunity to steam the movie. But if they were, its quite obvious what the reasons were, most likely. Why else would a corporation decline to stream a film that would have made them money?

The way I personally see this is that it is a HUGE deal.
It has nothing to do with being hacked or racism or financial gains. I see the bigger picture of North Korea threatening to do 911 style attacks on the USA.
We do not negotiate with terrorists we need to stick to our way of life and the freedom that has been fought for in wars by our heroes. Because of them we have the freedom that we do. If we show the world that we have no back bone than they will walk all over us. On the other hand I do see where Apple is a global company with stores and factories all over the world. Other countries do not have the security that we do and I respect that they do not want anyone getting hurt or killed. I still feel very strongly that we cannot let terrorist dictate how we live our lives and we should stand up for our freedom. That is what this country is founded on.

right, of course, and if we don't buy this movie the world will go down with evil forces. But these very same freedom fighters, including people posting in forums, would never ver dare to touch an Islamic figure. Well done little babies.

Reckon the hack around Sony kept Apple out of the way

What else could it be ?

Apple gives very generous Christmas holidays. They'd have had to pull people back on to set it up. The movie is so crappy, you know, it's probably not worth bringing people in.

Well, I watched "The Interview". What a piece of Sh.... I think the script must have been written by 12 year old boys with learning disabilities. Apple did the right thing quality wise. This movie is definitely way below even the lowest standards.

Yes I remember the WMD and obviously you are not very up to date as weapons were found and btw, you don't need to have assembled weapons in storage if you have the delivery system, the materials and the know how (which Saddam had). Your argument is flawed. (-Though I will admit I was against the war with Saddam for other reasons.)

I would love to see a movie that gives an honest account of the prophet of those who follow Islam. It would be akin to watching ISIS back in the day as it is very clear what massacres went on and the post-rationalization that occurred under the name of their prophet. Truth would be enough to turn any rational civilized person's stomach.

Yes, but why did Apple not recall their employees immediately to publish this film on the store? The answer is simple.

Apple is a sponsor of cyber terrorism.

So you saved the middle east by killing millions of children and now you think that childish provocations could save the world? how brilliant.

This post makes no sense. "Apple did the right thing quality wise"? Apples store has no quality standards, there are plenty of garbage movies.

Saying something like 'did the right thing quality wise" implies the decision had anything to do with the likeableness of the movie, which I doubt highly.

Please provide your sources for "millions" of children in the Middle East. I can certainly provide plenty of data on what people in that region do to their own that way out numbers any American action whether it be Iran, Syria, Iraq or for that matter Hamas in Gaza... the list goes on. At least take the time to learn the history of that region before you go on with your hostilities and accusations.

I don't have to prove anything. The actions if NATO in the region speak for themselves and what happens now is a direct consequence. Our arrogance, flawed diplomacy and "peace" bombs are responsible for the current mess, and for the horrors that will probably come. The fact that the region was unstable before does not justify today's horror.

And now those living room heroes would like to save the world by promoting a childish comedy that promotes state killings. Those living room heroes post their messages here because they know that NK is not going to touch them. They would not be as brave if the movie was about some middle eastern Prophet.

I rented the movie on YouTube can you ios users not buy and rent movies on the YouTube app on ios?

Yeah the movie is hilarious. Eminem comes out admitting gayness. Too funny.

I thought so too. If you go in knowing it's crazy stupid humor done right and will never be better than a 7/10 then you'll have a great time.

I got a copy off movietube and wouldn't ever support iTunes, but that aside, I think Apple is all about Apple and figured they didn't want anything to do with the related issues/publicity. That and they didn't want to be a target of another hack :D

Actually watched it for free.

Yeah I could of easily got it through a torrent but was asking if YouTube app on ios allows renting and buying movies.it's on YouTube and wondering if Apple allows it.

If not it's a prime example of being stuck in apple's walled garden

So you're telling me you can't rent rated R movies in iTunes? Will Apple ban any movie that makes fun of gay people, makes fun of people based on color, religion or nationality?
I don't think you should have Tim Cook and Apple management control movie content based on their personal belief system. I think it should be based on the ratings system that we use already. If you don't want a rated R movie in iTunes say so upfront. Can't go banning movies because it has gay and Korean jokes. What if we have a movie based on work conditions in China and a movie based on the civil rights movement with both having the same ratings? Is it ok for Tim Cook/Apple management to prevent a documentary about Chinese labor from iTunes because it has the potential to damage Apple's reputation?
The App store is one thing but movies should not be controlled based on personal beliefs if it falls under our current rating system. What if the government started controlling what we watch?
