I wonder if the decline in phone sales is getting Apple to re-evaluate the high margins of professional hardware.
What exactly is a "Mini LED-Like Backlight Design"? It's either LED or a backlit panel... what is "LED-like"?
I assume it’s meant to mean “the pixels are their own ‘backlight’”
Obviously very sloppy writing.
Possibly mis-translated for microLED: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MicroLED
OLED is nothing like MicroLED. Two completely different technologies.
OLED is not suited for desktop monitors at all. The dock would be burned into the display in no time.
I'm thinking it may mean they are using something like Samsung's QLED technology.
Why settle for local dimming LCD when micro LED is coming out?
They are mentioning it. That’s a different front page story and forum thread.I don't know why nobody else is mentioning the 16 inch MacBook Pro and 10 inch iPad on that graphic. I don't believe those rumors but they would be nice if they came true.
It reminds me of the mid-2000s and people making silly signature bars. Subtle throwback to that and the tackiness of graphics then.Kind of fits for the Lunar New Year.
Wondering what AP means in regard to iPad Mini. Not Apple Pencil?
And further delay a monitor that should have been out long before now? To spend months testing it and getting it cleared with various governing bodies? To introduce a brand new technology into a new product without and knowledge of its long term reliability? Why settle for local dimming LCD when micro LED is coming out?
I know of no punching bags with Tim Cook's mug silkscreened onto it.they need other markets that aren't saturated.
Local dimming is not really suitable for computer monitors. Unless you're mostly gaming or watching movies and should get a TV instead. Why settle for local dimming LCD when micro LED is coming out?
I wonder I) if this will have HDMI ports to connect Xbox / Playstation II) what the input lag might be like - would love to be able to use it for multiple purposes (photo editing D850 files, console games etc.).
Also, do you guys think that pixelwise 6K would be too small to work at 100% (i.e. at 1:1)?
What's the pixel dimensions you're using to get that ppi? 6144 x 3160 (or what)?I has around 210/220ppi... so the SAME as any other Mac retina display out there. So... probably yes.
How macOS works, however... is display the interface @2x aka 200%, while images opened in Photoshop etc... are still shown at 100%. The best of both worlds really.
