Bottom line is that the new iPad line is in direct competition with the MacBook line and so it would be a little ridiculous to announce the new iPad Pro... the Surface killer... then turn around and say look our new MacBooks.

It would be nice if they truly go after the PC market and create (at least one) UberMac powerful enough to compete with the tech specs of a lot of PCs.

If Apple wants to differentiate it's product line between the iPad and MacBook, this is where they need to do it.

Don't do this to me, Apple. Please. If you really make that thin of a MacBook Pro in a 15" form with Skylake, I will throw all of my money at you. Please include some USB 3.1 and C ports, keep the MagSafe, keep the battery life, force touch, and I will be satisfied with this year with Apple.

EDIT: And most of all, no butterfly keyboard

More realistically: 15" Macbook Air (or just Macbook), 2 USB-C ports only, no MagSafe, best Apple laptop battery life, force touch yes, butterfly keyboard definitely yes, retina display

They'll keep the Macbook Pro with ports, though it may get a bit slimmer and come in different color options, better processors, etc. There will be a distinction between the ultra-portables and the workhorses

Yes the writing is on the wall. With the newly announced robot that can supposedly recycle all of the components of phones and computers, Apple can now say with a straight face they are being humanitarians producing phones with a maximum life of 4 years and computers with a maximum life of 6 years. Wasn't Apple also trying to develop a subscription model for phones?

Ugh! First, they said they would be coming out with Skylake rMBPs in September, and nothing. Then, they said they would be coming out by Black Friday/Christmas, and nothing. Then, they said they would be coming out by late March, and still nothing. I, for one, am sick of all this speculation and conjecture. Either hype up something you know for a fact is coming out on a particular date or shut up.

You may be better off visiting www.apple.com if you're sick of rumors :p

Although I agree with most, I really disagree and hope that the MagSafe isn't taken out. It's one of the hallmark things of a MacBook computer, in spite of the recent release. But seeing as how MagSafe may be "outdated" at this time and how USB-C may be more dominant in file transfer speeds and charging speeds, I hope at least they can implement the style and architecture of the MagSafe into a USB-C specific charger.

Apple has lost the plot. The company has lost its innovation. Tweak and fiddle. Always leave out some function or other as a marketing tool so customers will buy the next "upgrade".
Aged MacBooks with yesterdays processors and underpowered graphics. Thinner and lighter as the main points of difference? Who cares if they are not up to the job.
A new small iPhone in a tired case. Phone dimensions constrained by the number of rows and columns of app icons.
Declining iPad and Macbook sales, peaked phone sales?
Indecision over and removal of ports, and not putting USB on iPads.
Do they really think they know what customers want anymore? Try listening Apple, and reading the many posts here.

What? Mac sales are doing great relative to PCs. Why are you judging something that hasn't even been announced yet? Yes, the little iPhone SE is crap (for myself) but guess what? There are a lot of people who don't like bigger phones. So what? Apple didn't listen to them either? If Apple adds Thunderbolt 3, and I would imagine they do, that is more power and capability than a few extra ports could provide. If you need umpteen number of ports, get a desktop or some sort of dock. Times are changing. Remaining stagnant or creating bulky products aren't going to help Apple either.

Yes, in my opinion their last event "Let us poop you in" sucked but clearly that event wasn't targeted for me. To me, they defecated centre stage and made me rethink my Apple purchases. But this is great news, and the new early 2016 12-inch MacBook means they aren't forgetting about Mac users, they are redefining what that experience is.

TL;DR get over it.

Screw the Mini... and the iMac. They were great machines for their day but it's done. They need to be put down.

Apple needs to seriously consider scrapping the iMac and Mini and replacing them with a better consumer desktop offering, something designed from the ground-up better suited to current demands. I can only hope the current team at Apple is thinking like that. When you get the point where removing useful features to slim the machine down and make it more aesthetically pleasing is your best innovation, it's time for a do-over.

Better would be good but in any case if they won't replace them they need to update them

My 2011 17" MBP with an ATi GPU has failed twice. This is not simply a GPU manufacturer fault. I've also had two nMPs with heat related GPU issues. Apple have an issue with heat and I'm pretty sure it has to do with placing form above function...
Which brings up a question: when ipadP's are used at their max power for a long time, how hot will they get? Meaning you can't use a case around it, because it blocks the heat getting out? Anybody seen any cases with active cooling?

Good. I've been waiting years to buy a MacBook but hopefully they make something good.

The MacBook Airs have terrible screens. The MacBooks have terrible performance and a bad keyboard.
The MacBook Pros are really the only standard things you can get and even those aren't that powerful.

Also, MB needs more ports.

Holding out for the Apple Watch Pro.
Thinking about career change, "professional clock watcher" sounds so good!

That was possibly the most interesting part of the Loop Me In event. I don't think I'd ever heard the iPad as unambiguously promoted as a PC replacement before.

The presentation was hard to reconcile with the fact that Apple still has a substantial PC business.

The whole effect was kind of weird. "Five year old computers are sad." (lots of Apple enthusiasts proudly boast of the longevity of their favorite computers). "Don't buy another computer, buy an iPad." (Doesn't Apple want to sell more iMacs and MacBooks?)

Maybe PCs are too much hassle for not enough margin. Apple's PC line is updated less frequently than their competitors. Could it be that the massive profits to be had from phones and tablets makes PCs a distraction? Maybe iMac and MacBook are diluting the mobile device message and ultimately have to go.

Went over to Best Buy and saw that MacBook still for 999... So tempting..."MacRumor" is the only reason why I am holding of... Is it possible that new laptops come out without an announcement?? Or are you all expecting this to be big? All I want to do is some lite Xcode programming... :(

It's called the cloud. Been around a good while now. Welcome to the 21st century.
You, Sir, must be very pleased with the speed of 5400rpm hdd?

Why the hell is everyone on here a video editor or photographer?
Are you like really honestly surprised that there are more creative professionals in these forums and in mac users than global average?
Even indie freelancer professionals, who first founded their business on Apple's products in the distant history when they were superior to others?
Care to guess why?
