I really want Apple to offer a laptop with an LTE connection.

It seems bizarre to me that the iPad has had cellular antennas from the beginning, 6 years ago now, but Apple has never given that to their laptops, even as an optional add-on, throughout the many revisions that they've had to their laptop line over the years.

If Apple put cellular connections in their computers, I could just cut Comcast entirely. AT&T's LTE is faster and cheaper than my Comcast broadband, but because tethering is less than convenient, I still mostly use broadband for when my computers need to connect to the internet.

So basically they're going after the back-to-school market?

The current model looks very dated and overpriced.

Will be even more so come end Sept.

a) Digitimes

b) Too late.

At this point the only reason I'm not buying a Dell XPS 13 is ugh....Win 10

A lot of hate for the butterfly keyboard, but I really like it on the Macbook. I have a feeling that the people that are complaining, never really used it long term. It's actually pretty great.

I think that very much depends on your personal preference. I've used MBA's for years, and have had my rMB for two months and still really struggle with the keyboard to point where I am considering changing it for a MBA.

My dream machine:

- New OSX
- Thinner
- USB-C only
- USB-C connectivity to a 4k/5k screen
- no 3.5mm jack
- no MagSafe
- 14" and 16" models
- keyboard options
- 20% power shaved off all peripherals
- Intel CPU with amazing power efficiency
- Integrated GPU (even more power savings)
- Amazing OSX power saving enhancements
- 12 hour light development on a single charge

None of this is unrealistic.

Ultimately, the MBP will look like the iPad Pro + keyboard + mouse (the yoke that was subtly introduced yesterday).

But that won't be till 2020. The performance isn't there right now and there's a huge architecture gap that needs to be filled. So, for 2016, we will see one last major design iteration of the "laptop" form factor.

This forum..., yesterday people were moaning there was no Mac related news and how dated the hardware is - now it's Apple can't make decent laptops anyway/it'll be under powered/who needs thin? People are never satisfied it seems.

Personally I'm buzzing, my 2012 unibody pro is still going strong despite people in this thread claiming it apparently should've had heat-related failure by now. Would love to move to a retina screen and faster GPU.

Now to decide between upgrading my laptop to a new Pro in June, or sticking with my current laptop and expand my content consumption arsenal With a 9.7" iPad Pro...

Funny how when the rumors of this happening at yesterdays event didn't come through they simply switch them to WWDC time (the must more natural time for hardware updates on laptops and desktops).

Apple basically stated that they want to phase out personal computers. Not everyone is purely a consumer of content - some of us produce it. You can make interesting music on iPad, but otherwise than that iOS is far too limited to be useful as a platform for professional production. Don't be so short-sighted Apple!

I'm really hoping these rumours point to new 12" and 14" MacBooks at reduced price points, allowing the removal of the Air from the lineup, and not a sign that the next MacBook Pro's will have performance compromised at the expense of an unnecessary redesign.

For my situation, I don't care about a thinner design...I want a high performance laptop (rMBP) that can handle editing 4K video with a larger/efficient enough battery. If that means a thicker (or same) design, so be it. I'm not using it for personal use so the whole 'thin' design means nothing to me if I can't work efficiently. .02

This. Performance is paramount, please don't sacrifice performance for thinness. In fact, how 'bout a performance increase???
