Funny how after the massive success of the iPhone 5S the Apple-haters "flip flopped™" from "tacky" to "nice" once "coincidentally" most other flagship phones offered "gold" as basic colour option as well*.

(*for slow people - no, this does not equal "Apple invented gold phones")

Are in-cell displays technologically impractical for screens as large as the iPad Air's?

I would rather have something more durable than an easily scratched laminate.

Higher resolution would be welcomed, too. That will probably come out next year on iPad Air 2S. hah.

Omg I hate you Apple:p:mad: i bought an iPad Air this june knowing that there won't be a gold iPad because they would have announced the current one in gold and now I see this:mad::mad: I can't believe they are going to release a gold one because if so , why didn't they introduce a gold iPad last year?

Nope, iPad 1 still working like a champion.

Not really, far from champion.it's almost un-usable or maybe you haven't seen any newer iPad in action yet.the original lags like there is no tomorrow, not to mention weight and bulk.lol

----------

I will replace my Air with a new Retina Mini immediately.

LOL, "limited devlopment resources." What a load of BS.

I believe the bit about Apple letting the iPad mini retina wither, not because Kuo said it, but because that's what Apple has done with the iPad mini since it's inception. They view it not as a smaller iPad, but as a lesser iPad. Thus, people who prefer a smaller size don't deserve a full sRGB color gamut for example.

----------

The new ipad will be the first tablet in the market which has a negative thickness. With a revolutionary depth of -4mm you will see the backside of the ipad when you look at the front! To overcome this slight design issue the screen of the ipad will be mirror imaged and you will be able to use it just the way as you know from the previous models.

And by using that little pocket in space-time, the new iPad will have unlimited battery life. Still 16GB on the low end though.

update the iPad early like they did to the iPad 3

hmm

I remember how that turned out

Early?

It would be almost a full year since the iPad Air release, the iPad 4 came out 6 months after the iPad 3

I am gonna need more than that to justify an upgrade.

I will upgrade any time a new one comes out and so will many others like me.

Apple does not care that you need more to justify an upgrade. Its all about me and others like me.. you mad bro? Yeah been smoking but this is all the truth

I see them introducing the new phone and maybe watch because they are a pair. An iPad, not likely. Too many divides for consumers to split there limited resources on. If it is there, it's a refresh a 1.5 iPad Air if you will. IPad sales are slumping and it;s a way to prop up those numbers till a full refresh arrives.

It wouldn't seem very Apple-like for them to also introduce the iPad at the September event. Apple likes to have a focused message with the keynotes.

I can sort of see bundling the iPhone and iWatch together as they will probably be linked. However also introducing the next gen iPad seems out of character for Apple.

Again another thing this guy has said today that I do not believe, no iPad Mini Retina upgrades! Yeah right. All products announced at the same time, no.

If anything Apple will announce an iPad Pro 12" model at this event. I have a feeling they will announce something special, otherwise it just seems a missed opportunity to build a large structure to launch a couple of phone upgrades, and maybe a watch.

Perhaps the large structure is mimic a house to show off HomeKit.

Yes. I think there is a good possibility of this.

iPad Air 2 is not going to demand its own special event. Same A8 as in iPhone, same Touch ID as last year's iPhone, a gold option, a less reflective screen...

Would take about 5 minutes to cover.

And if the mini is not getting much of an update, that would quickly be rolled in.

Sounds like the October event will be more about OS X, Macs, and iCloud.

I sell my iPad every year and upgrade for $100-150

Seems like a good deal to me

I have an iPad Air 64GB that I rarely use. I thought about selling it, but I don't want to 'give' it away for cheap.

Antireflective screen seems like a nice touch though. Wireless AC would be even better.

256GB and longer battery life, please. Well, the battery life now is already pretty good, so just the 256GB.

Want more storage? This might interest you. A 16GB or 32GB iPad with something like this; way more storage for less money. Creates its own WiFi network, accessible by up to 5 devices, 10 hr battery life, and all the movies, photos or songs you could want.

iPad mini may be upgraded with fingerprint recognition, if any.

This part got me worried.
The air is too big for my tastes.

Hope the mini doesn't become the 'C' model of iPads.

I've always maintained that what ever amount of Ram works well on a device, "Double it"

My iPad mini is awesome with the 1 GB it has, but why not just make it 2GB. Kinda like having a buffer zone or something. Am I wrong? :)

"A gold iPad? Shut up and take my money!"
