Complete BS. The 9600 is an average card...if that. Yet another attempted RDF statement

You'll be able able to play 99% of the games on medium settings with the base model. The only game you'll have trouble with is GTA 4 and everybody has been complaining about that game.

You really can't believe Apple's marketing materials. At one point they were promoting a system as being 3x faster than the previous generation, with Apple's own graphs showing that the new systems were only something like 2.1x faster.

Then why not say 'capable' or 'decent' or 'competent'.

or as he said

well couldn't they have said "its the most portable gaming laptop!"

Obviously i know these don't sound great marketing-wise. However, 'ultimate' suggests the MBP in its current iteration can chew through any game no compromises or questions asked which is misleading

2. Never said people would only run Windows on it... I have Windows 7 installed solely for games. Big deal.. I use OS X as my main OS, and when I want to play a game, I simply reboot into Windows. As does countless others...

This is a fact. Apple has this right.

So what are some people complaining about? The fact that you have to reboot the Mac into different operating systems? BIG FLIPPING DEAL.

It's absolutely hilarious what some people choose to complain about.

It's advertising. Just like when the guys in the commercial open up a can of beer and half naked women come out from everywhere. As far as Mac laptops go, it's the ultimate gaming laptop but this isn't the first time where advertising can be misleading and it certainly won't be the last.

You're right- "we" are not saying this, "you" are. The issue of the MBP being good/bad for gaming is a non-issue as far as im concerned, as desktops will always be better. The point is that serious gamers should not be looking into laptops at all.

Yawn.. can't you see the point not everyone wants a desktop? My MacBook Pro plays games really well. Obviously a desktop would be better, but I want a laptop. And for something this portable and thin, there isn't a better laptop. Why is that so hard for you to understand..?

Congratulations? Not sure what this has to do with anything. A serious gamer has no use for OS X. A serious gaming Desktop won't have OS X on it, and if it does (in the form of a Mac Pro) then they've wasted their money. If you'd like to do it yourself, all you have to do is learn some programming and find out how Apple's code works. Nobody's stopping you.

What on earth...? That's why I said anyone who uses a Mac who'd want to game would install Windows. It's like talking to a brick wall with you..

Um, on a similar note, why is it so hard for you to understand that "some people want a laptop" is not the issue I am addressing? Please re-read before you formulate another off-the-point response.

Um, think it is you that is going off topic here, you are sparking a desktop v laptop debate, when we are debating whether the MacBook Pro really is the ultimate gaming laptop with its specs and dimensions..

...

In other news, the panormous pizza from pizza hut "is so big, the party never ends!"

Is there something about marketing that people just dont get or something?

so i guess that makes the Dell Adamo the "Ultimate Gaming Laptop" at .65"?

or the Dell Mini 9 the Ultimate Gaming Laptop at 9"???

I'm pretty sure really soon you will hear "The Ultimate Gaming Netbook"

Why would a "serious gamer" have "no use" for OS X? Or "waste their money" on a Mac Pro?

Have you ever thought that the term "serious gamer" is a VERY loose term? Someone could call themselves a serious gamer because they game for 5 hours a week where someone who games for 40 could say that they are casual.

Besides that, who's to say that a "serious gamer" can't use OS X say for work or fun. I feel mac/apple has better video/picture editing than that of a windows based PC. Obviously this is an opinion but I'm sure there are plenty of others who feel this way too.

Just because somebody wants to game "seriously" doesn't mean they can't find a very good use for OS X.
