Limited supplies? Is that really true or more Apple hyperbole?

All I can say is I thought I lots my pair back in March. Popped over to Costco.com and bought another pair for $150 inc. shipping and tax, so a few bucks off list. Of course the day they arrived I found my pair caught up in the pocket of some workout shorts.D'oh! But curious so I looked today and Costco still has 'em for the same price. Seems to me if they were *that* popular and discounted they wouldn't be able to keep them in stock. Also back in March most of the BBs near me had them in stock for same day pick up, but chose to wait it out and save a few bucks rather than instant gratification as "punishment" for losing my buds.

Seems silly to include transit time in your figure. Apple Store app says ships in 3-5 days. The fact that they’re not listed as in stock makes the same point, but without the unnecessary exaggeration. Additionally, for what it’s worth the two Apple stores near me both have them available today. Maybe whoever decides where these things get shipped when they’re made is just doing a poor job. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You can’t see the forest for the trees. The question was whether they were really in demand. Fact is that they are not immediately available from Apple and from many local stores—none in my state. See how that works?

No sense, or cents... but it makes DOLLARS though... LOTS of dollars. ;)

...but readily available by tomorrow if ordered on Amazon, various Walmart Vendors, local Target, local Best Buy, etc.

Keep trying at it. There’s got to be some way for you to convince yourself and others that Tim Cook is lying and the AirPods aren’t a success.

If they had rubber buds, I’d buy them in an instant. The hard plastic doesn’t sit in my ears well or comfortably.

This. 100x this.

I bought a pair. Loved them in theory - super convenient, really great form factor, best casual earbuds by far. But for one thing - the ***** hard plastic is super uncomfortable in my ears.

If Apple took this form factor and made them into airpods, I would pay $250 and buy them for the whole family right away.

What a load of rubbish, no shortage, just not selling....just like the HomePod !

I don’t think those words mean what you think they do. If there was “no shortage” you wouldn’t have to wait a week to get them on line and local stores wouldn’t be sold out. “Not selling” doesn’t mean set an all time record for sales in a quarter.

I can see fine. I just don't understand the hyperbole when you could make the same exact point without it. Seems like Apple needs someone else to manage their stock though.

I didn't say a word about TC, nor tagged this product "not a success."

You spun that they were not available at any Apple stores (which may or may not be true- I didn't check you on that claim), implying continued scarcity. But a simple search finds them readily available at all kinds of other Apple product retailers. My search offered multiple deliver-by-tomorrow options or even pickup tonight at some nearby retailers.

But since you came back and made up stuff I didn't say to make it sound like a hater, I've now checked your claim about Apple stores not having any and my nearest one offers pickup today. In fact, all 12 of my nearest Apple stores have them available for pickup today.

Furthermore, in post #52, you claim none of the Apple Stores in your state have any. iStockNow implies that there should be at least 1+ store in every state that has stock, including Hawaii, Alaska and even Puerto Rico: https://www.istocknow.com/live/#device.0=airpods&brands=18,27,26,11,15,2,16&lowzoom=0&position=37.661913730236, -92.02563329302598&zoom=4 In fact, I can't spot a state on that map that doesn't have at least 1 Apple store claiming to have stock. Granted iStockNow does not claim to be perfect, but their systems "see" a great deal of inventory available (I doubt they could be so wrong). Which state do you live in?

Best new Apple product since the original iPad

The only thing I’d want improved is battery life

I would like to ask what your listening habits are, and I'm not trying to be rude, I would just like to know how you listen and the battery life is an issue. I haven't found the battery life to be an issue and I use mine all day. I put them in when I get to work, then at lunch I put them in the case to charge and pull them out again for the afternoon. Then I put them back in the case for the drive home, then use them again for my workouts. I probably get 8-10 hours of listening time a day and never have to worry about the battery life.

Do you not have 30 minutes of time through out the day that you are not listening where they could be charged?

I'd be a lot more interested in these if they were compatible with my Switch (which is easily the device where I find myself using headphones the most) and my Windows laptop (less of a sticking point for me.

I just need some kind of 3.5 mm -> AirPod adapter.

Good thing they made them for the masses then and not just you. Millions of people wear them no problem. Buy some erskinz

Just wait until they release the next gen AirPods in space gray as well as releasing their own branded headphones with noise cancellation later this year. I’m holding off buying the Bose QC35 Series II until then to see how the reviews shake out.

Yeah, frequently updating products makes no sense whatsoever.

Is that you, Tim? :p
Not when the current pair are still selling great, and apparently they still have not figured out how to meet the demand. It makes no sense for Apple to refresh them until one of those things change.

Just a fact that some people have will issues with the comfort/fit and there will always be room for improvement on any product. I’m sure Tim would agree (when he has an improved version of the AirPods to sell to you/make you upgrade). No good reason for that snippy opening remark.

I have to say these are one of the best purchases I have ever made. So convenient.

And so ugly. Bright white couldn't stand out more. (unless that's what you're looking for). Black, beige, browns or even designs. Whenever I see them dangling in someones ears, I don't see something that looks good.

Just because someone tells you something you don't want to hear doesn't mean they are being snippy. Facts are facts. Any way hope your day gets better.

Why are people buying these? They sound no different to the EarPods (aka like junk). You can get much, much better for the same price.

The problem for me is if I was going to plunk down 150-200 for a pair of wireless earbuds I would want them to sound better than the Apple earbuds and I would want them in black. I've actually been watching some reviews on the tube comparing them and there are other options besides the airpods for iPhone users.
