The embarrassing part is how you have no responsibility in not losing things.

I take the responsibility by not purchasing overpriced things that would easily get misplaced with my household and lifestyle. I guess if you don't have kids or pets and don't have a very active lifestyle it is easier not to lose things.

There was probably a time people thought mobile/cordless phones, remote controls, compact digital camera's, wireless mouses etc were just asking to become lost. I get it, you see them as so small that they must get lost. But if you think about it, you have just as much chance as losing a small key - and yes people lose keys as well as anything else I listed, but doesn't make the idea of keys dumb, people just need to be careful.

If you think about it carefully, the chance of an airpod falling out and you not noticing, is very slim.

If you put them in your charging case after use, there is less chance of you losing it.

If you feel like to scatter it around random places, like with anything else like keys, wallets, cards, money, your phone, of course you increase likelihood of losing it.

Sure, you'd notice if it falls out, but with the AirPods being so small, the chances of it rolling away somewhere you can't find it seems rather big.

All other bud-type truly wireless earphones sit securely in your ear so they won't fall out easily. But the AirPods design just doesn't look as secure.

Although it doesn't look secure, all the reviews point it to be very difficult for it to drop out.

Not me. I was between these and the Bose SoundSport wireless. Apple just made the decision for me; my money will be going to Bose.

Haven't you heard? This is the new modus operandi at Apple. Announce things; push back releases; release things in such constrained quantities that you wait weeks or months for it to ship.

Otherwise known as Microsoft... They DO seem to be becoming one company nowadays...
