Oh this is getting good lol. I’m team Epic here. How on earth is more choice a bad thing for the consumer?
Everything that hits the "exclusivity" of a$$le is not good for many a$$le follower. It isn't possible that you have the same choice of a 99$ phone... How could you justify to your brain this small difference? So it is always accepted anything that can keep "different" (not necessary better) the a$$le world.

No one is the good guy in this entire Apple/Epic fiasco, but Tim Sweeney is clearly a huge a ** hole (is, was, and will continue to be). I'm very tired of this entire thing between both companies.

Apple needs to get with it and adopt better policies for developers and payments, no argument there. Tim Sweeney is just a pot-stirrer and can't help but be a troll.

In general, it's not bad. The problem is that we don't live in the "nice" world that many pro-choice people portray. It's a nasty, cruel landscape out there, and Apple has built up a business model that delivers a safe, trusted user experience. This model has worked extremely well and kept many less-technical people safe (from themselves).

Change is needed, though. Given the volume, Apple should be held to account for continuing to charge nearly 1/3 of a purchase price (30%) as a commission fee, especially for in-app purchases that cost Apple nil.
I’d be all over this if for example the govt steps in and regulated the car market. Cars have been sold for over 100 years and some dealers are still sleazy with market adjustments and fake markups.

This is a god d*mn team sport. It's two giant companies petty middle school-esque squabbles vs consumers who might want to play said game on their iDevices.
Fortnite hasn’t been available on Apple devices for about 5 years. Any consumer who wanted to play this game has already either bought a different phone or got a gaming device that allows then to play it.

I'm just happy that I have Apple looking out for my best interests when it comes to what I am allowed to do with the devices I've purchased from them. I enjoy not being able to run whatever software I want on it. This is cool and good.
If that is something you value why would you buy an Apple device you knew wasn’t going to give you that option?

You’ve inspired me. I’m tired of Target taking a cut of my profits for selling my widgets. Never mind that they provide security and protection from the elements for my widgets within the confines of their buildings. And who cares that they handle stocking of my products on the shelves and handle returns if the customer doesn’t like it. I’m going to stand in front of my widgets on the shelves and accept payment in cash myself. And if Target tries to stop me I’m going to scream!

Sweeney shows how “for the customer” he is by once again lying about the situation at the expense of his paying customers - which are largely teens. What a D-bag.

If Epic has a board, and I we’re on it, he’d have been removed when he first recommended spending millions of dollars on a PR agency to pull the stunt he did with breaking his contract with Apple. What a hack of a CEO.

An Apple executive is facing felony federal perjury charges for lying under oath in the epic-Apple trial.

I consider that a bit worse, personally.
Considering "lying" in that instance is highly debatable, I don't.

Epic is trying to use the E.U. to punish Apple for activities inside the U.S., after failing to find anyone remotely sympathetic to their BS in the US.

100 million in legal fees. At least 100 million lost over 5 years not being in the App Store
Both Epic and Apple are losers

Apple is so hard headed here. They fail to realize they need app developers just like the developers need Apple. Even free ones, because that is part of the value of buying an iPhone - I can use the app I want/need. If all the apps disappeared, then why would anyone use an iPhone?

It makes you wish there was a union/group and they all just pulled their apps at once. Imagine the look on Apple's face if the App Store consisted of nothing but Apple apps. Sadly, short of this Apple just won't get it. They'll spend a ton of money and eventually be forced to open at the platform. Along the way they are going to lose a lot of good will and turn off a lot of customers.

Not letting a company whose US developer account was removed for blatant ToS violations, and is now trying to use their Swedish account in an attempt to “ban-dodge”, it would seem.
Apple plays around with regions when it suits them too. That's why they have like a bazillion dollars in Ireland, when they're an American company.

If you think you know more about the law than a federal judge, then good on you.

Wife is attorney and started laughing after I showed it to her. "He's screwed." was her response.

I used to value the smoothness and simplicity of Apple. It felt like good value for money, but times have changed and other brands have caught up. Switching back to Android after 12 years on iOS was partly influenced by Fortnite being blocked. It was a small factor, but I enjoy playing it. More importantly, I appreciate having control over my device. Apple's monopolistic approach and restrictive App Store policies are no longer something I'm willing to accept. I'm glad Sweeney and Epic are standing up against it.

Apples costumers spend more on apps and services then android users. Most companies aren’t going to risk a major part of their revenue to prove a point.Fortnite also hasn’t been in the us App Store for about 5 years. It’s obvious most consumers don’t care. In fact outside of online forums and comment sections I’ve only had one person even discuss this topic. He ironically was complaining about it while also saying he has never owned and would never own an Apple product.
