how how can they mess this one up, it's neglect that they didn't catch it before releasing it to people.
I'm really curious to see about that too, but looking at the price of the Studio Display, I can't really see it being any less than $2500. Even with all those great features, that'd be more than I'd be willing to pay. But who knows, maybe (assuming it's even released and isn't a 27" iMac) we'll be greeted by a $2000 price-tag.I think I’ll wait to see if the rumored mini-LED 27 inch display in June will happen
Apart from the iSight many moons ago, Apple has lagged in the webcam game.Apple is famous for two things.
Why?
- Fantastic iPhone cameras
- Horrible webcams
Should have been already banned for using the term "the GOAT".Here’s a modest proposal: anyone who unironically uses the -gate suffix should immediately be permanently banned from their social media accounts (and should be fired and blacklisted, if they’re a professional journalist).
The camera was calibrated specifically for Jony Ive’s skin. If anyone else has problems, it is their fault for not having the proper anatomy to use Apple products. You're looking at your webcam wrong. ?
Yeah but the iMac and studio display are thicker than iPhone and have worse camerasBecause the thickness of a laptop's screen / webcam module has not allowed better, you can very easily see how your iPhone is 2-3 times as thick as a laptop's screen where the webcam is housed. MB's webcams, though obviously worst than those of iPhones (whose quality people have got used to and come to expect) are best in the industry when you compare them to Dell's and HP's premium laptops.
Also, though a bit embarrassing, we all know Apple will fix the Studio's webcam promptly through that SW update, as it sports the optics of an iPhone 11. The first impression might be ruined for the reviewers, but there's a reason hardware can have firmware and software updates these days.

I feel like that one deserves an even more extreme punishment. How about one year working on a literal goat farm?Should have been already banned for using the term "the GOAT".

Probably because 1) it’s overused (and a little out of fashion, as far as slang is concerned), and 2) it’s not really professionally appropriate (not that it’s inappropriate, it’s just perceived as unprofessional to use overly informal slang).Uh, why?
Try capitalizing it. QA is an abbreviation for Quality Assurance, while spell check and autocorrect would see “qa” as being a two letter word spelled q-a. Technically, autocorrect is correct and you’re wrong, since initialisms are typically written with capital letters, unless perhaps they spell out an actual word or the word truly enters popular usage (like, on the genericized trademark level of Band-Aid or Kleenex) (or it’s a registered brand name that’s styled in all lower case).Yet again customers to basic product testing. How on earth could this have made it past qa?
funny, autocorrect on the iPad doesn't know qa. That says something right there.....
The monitor is anywhere from $1,600 to $2,000 depending on how it's configured. It should work as advertised out of the box at that price.Joanna Stern is already calling it webcamgate. Good grief.
