Apple today in a press release about its new AirTag item tracker announced that iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 will be available starting "next week."

iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 are packed with new features, including the ability for iPhone users who are wearing an Apple Watch to unlock the iPhone with Face ID while wearing a mask. iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 will also be the minimum software versions required for the just-announced AirTag item tracker, according to Apple.

iOS 14.5 will be preinstalled on the new purple versions of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini that are available to pre-order starting this Friday.

And for those inevitable “Disappointing!” posts we’re about to see, it is a lot less disappointing than pushing it out before it’s ready- or when the servers are slammed with everyone looking for info on the new items.

this gives me time to find a nice shoulder strap to always have this bad boy on, even if i'm wearing a different watch. any suggestions?

Did we really need an RC after 8 betas? If a developer isn't ready after nearly 3 months shame on them.

Also its already installed on the new purple iPhone ....so the software is DONE! RELEASE IT!!!!!
