On a MacBook, since touch is so prevalent in our daily devices, there is always the urge to interact with it. Perhaps not you specifically, but for most people. Hate to break it to you, mate, the world does not revolve around youHow exactly have they "flip flopped" on the iPad? You mean by putting a properly windowed UI and a cursor-based interface?
Touch is a crap way to interact with a vertical display. Notice that the first thing people do when they start using an iPad for more intensive productivity is to... wait for it... attach a keyboard/trackpad. They do this so the control surfaces are horizontal where hands can rest instead of clumsily gorilla-arming.
