Apple Says iPhone 14 Pro Camera Vibration Issue Doesn't Require Repair

Cite your data where it states that this actually was physically affecting anything or explain why your post is not pure histrionics. Even this write up goes to great lengths not to claim that.

Because Apple has lots of form for denying hardware issues for as long as possible. They denied the MacBook keyboard issues for 2 years and even charged people for repairs.

If I had bought one of these phones and had this issue it would be being returned.

I think this pretty much proves they don't test these things with anything but their first party camera software.

Does it prove that? Because my iPhone 14 Pro is totally fine, as are many (probably most) others. Meaning it doesn’t affect every phone and would be relatively easy to miss in any QA review.

Just another example of cynics being fooled by the massive numbers in which Apple ships these devices and the disproportionate amount of negative comments on the internet.

We need a poll because I haven’t had this issue and I can’t be the only one. How common is this exactly?

Yes, yes—of course, we'll let everyone know that their devices need to be repaired, because we love having to perform thousands of free repairs/device swaps and inflate our refurbished inventory.

While a repair may not be necessary, this is like buying a "new" car that has 50,000 miles on the engine already. If this issue has happened to you, your camera has been stressed far beyond what it would have been and you should go in and try to get a replacement as soon as possible.
That’s what applecare+ is for.

How do you know for sure that there's permanent physical damage? Do you work in Apple Engineering?

I noticed that a lot of YouTubers make faces like Luke Miani is making in his video thumbnail. I forget where, but I recall seeing something, somewhere basically saying that thumbnails with people making real life emoji faces increase clicks and was encouraged by YouTube.

They have an opposite affect on me, I tend to avoid videos with people making goofy faces on the thumbnails. Anyone else like that?
YES! I hate that it's become a thing on YouTube. And I AVOID videos with that thumbnail. I wish this trend would just die.

I guarantee if a user found a way to vibrate the camera like that and Apple knew about it and brought the phone in for repair they would say it was never intended to be used that way and would void any warranty coverage.

But when it vibrates due to an issue on Apple's end, they're sure there's no damage.

Apple said users simply need to update their iPhone once a software update with a fix is released next week, suggesting that the issue does not cause permanent hardware damage to the device
Yeah well they said the same thing about the Studio Display webcam, turns out that the hardware was crappy in the first place. Hope software will really resolve this issue on iPhone 14

I can’t stand most Apple reviewers notably because of their annoying thumbnails and sensationalist title ("WHY I WILL RETURN MY IPHONE"). Not even clicking on videos like these

Unfortunately it's YouTube own algorithm that prefers videos with those thumbnails, so creators have to adapt. It's basically the thumbnail template for pretty much most tech videos, even MKBHD (photo of the YouTuber side by side with the product).

It is nothing like buying a new car with 50,000 miles on it. Not even close. Nothing you say is based in fact. All panic speculation.

Oh remember Apple's warning not to put iphone on a vibrating surface? Let's see what will happen with the action mode now being highly advertised. Apple literally baiting people to damage their iphones.... 😅 I guess this is Apple's way to improve their profitability on repairs?

Also don’t take Apple’s word for it, if your device has this problem, return it as soon as possible for a refund/exchange within the 14 day window. Doesn’t take an engineer to figure out that insane amount of the camera sensor shaking will have put unnecessary wear on the hardware and shorten it’s component lifespan.
I generaly agree with your point, but Apple will provide the update next week, which means that people will still be within their return window by the time the software is released. People should wait first to see if the issue is resolved before returning their unit.
