Unfortunately, with Apple calling the issue normal behavior, it means that those who are unhappy with the jelly scrolling effect will likely not be able to get a replacement device from Apple.
Thats not true at all. If you feel like its a HW issues RETURN THE DEVICE and get another one and don't you dare feel guilty about it.

In real life, in my opinion it is much worse than on the vids. Everything is tilted during scrolling. The rectangle shapes become trapezoids, the narrow lines go tilted etc… very annoying. I’m so effin’ disappointed ‘cause I love the chassis, the screen colours, everything.

Me too

I was hoping it would be less obvious in person, and it's the opposite.

If you see it and/or are bothered by it -- it's a major deal breaker

The problem isn’t that it’s there, it’s that it’s so pronounced.

Exactly right.

My Mini 5 supposedly has Jelly in the landscape orientation and I just am not seeing it (and I'm trying to look for it)...But in portrait on the Mini 6 - it's like ALL I can see when scrolling...

Having the jelly be in portrait, where the distance from side to side is so physically short, is a huge part of why it's so noticeable it would seem.

Major own goal given how many folks primarily use the Mini's in portrait mode.

Is jelly-scrolling more pronounced if the user wears prescription glasses? I don't wear glasses.

Damn, I am sorry. Maybe try a replacement unit first before giving up?
The issue is caused by the hardware design. The screen refreshes along the short edge rather than along the long edge. (And that short edge is very short on the mini.) This is a function of how the display electronics are layed out. It can’t be changed without a redesign of the hardware. The MacRumors article is misleading in that respect.
