Well considering they laid out a fairly detailed description of which entities are allowed to post such apps, even a monkey could probably do a decent job of denying permissions to 99% of the ineligible applications. At least Apple thought this through, whereas you guys don’t seem to be doing that. I think they have a pretty good plan in place, considering the human factor...

Oh, yeah man? Who’s to say what a government is, man. It’s, like, arbitrary and stuff, man.

Given some of the messages I’ve received lately, I’m happy to err on the side of less avenues of information over more. Health and science aren’t like politics: There are right and wrong ways to interpret information, and misinformation can kill. We need to hear reliable information from the official experts who have been doing this all their lives.

Just the last week I had to take a family member to task for spreading information that “drinking warm soup” cures the virus.

Let me guess, they got the "warm soup" remedy off of Facebook?

Uh ok great. I’d love alternative sources of information and decide for myself. If you’re content offloading that to someone else to decide for you, well then you’re very trusting and more power to you.

If the governments and bona fide medical organizations don’t have information you are willing to trust, then you are shopping for news sources until you find one that is willing to state as facts the imaginary things you want to believe. No reason for Apple to cater to that sort of delusion.

Yes. We all know governments always tell the truth. Theyve never gotten anything wrong. They’re just here to help us

Exactly. People applaud this without any consideration to who is in charge of deciding reputability.
It would be easy enough to hire one guy who is qualified to check whether advice given by such an app is correct and helpful. On top of the usual tech guys checking that the app doesn't crash, doesn't steal your data and so on. So all apps related to coronavirus get the usually checks, but expedited, and then they are handed to the medical expert.

PS. There are now also websites that reproduce accurate medical advice and information copied from official sites, but also spread computer malware. When you think people couldn't sink any lower, you find they do. (Maybe the guys shipping fake coronavirus test kits from the UK to the USA are lower).

Well, some alternative sources are telling us that drinking cow piss helps against coronavirus. While that is just disgusting, the alternative source that drinking lots of alcohol would help has actually killed dozens of people.

You mean like all the anti-vaxxers who are listening to someone who was _paid_ to spread intentionally false information about a relationship between MRS vaccines and Aspergers syndrome.
