It works very well, with mostly seamless integration. So why would I go back to PCs? I used one Samsung S5, for one year. Switching to the iPhone 6s was difficult at first. But it turned out that it was far better, even with OS updates.
Using the iPad is great when I am used to the iPhone. And I prefer the iPad to the iPhone for the bigger screen. It is fantastic to draw 3D models with the stylus. I prefer Shapr3D.
The macs don't force OS updates, or any updates. But I did like Win7 a lot. Win10 is ok. And I don't wish to move to Win11.
I use Numbers a lot. So now I am comfortable with spreadsheets. I hardly ever used Excel back in the day, when I had PCs.
For photos the iMac displays are fantastic. It felt like a big upgrade to move to P3 colourspace, and glossy screens.
And I have one Pro Display XDR 32".
I no longer put my PC in a closet, or use watercooling to make it quiet. Apple's hardware is quiet, and the Mac Pro 7,1 is a delight to upgrade, with no cable management.
So why would I shift away from the Apple products, when they are well integrated, and does everything I need?
I tried building my own PC with top hardware around 2008. And it was very expensive for that time, with dual CPUs on a Tyan motherboard.
Along with a 30" Dell monitor. And I added watercooling to keep it cooler, and more quiet.
I wish I had known about Apple and the Mac Pro 3,1 at that time. But I was firmly in the PC camp, and thought macs were to simplistic, when one couldn't even go into BIOS to optimise the hardware. As if that was very important.
Did I have bluescreens? Yes, when I pushed to far, or software bugs brought the system to a halt. Nvidia also had bugs that caused crashes.
Today I am more inclined to stick with what works well. And top speed is far less of a concern to me these days.
But I still need to be able to switch to Windows, for gaming. And that is not a problem with Intel macs like the Mac Pro 7,1. Even if I would have to consider the graphic card length if I were to use a non MPX card.
And I use facetime every day to stay in contact with a friend abroad. Back in the day, we used Skype, but that often dropped connection. Facetime I can use on the iPhone, the iPad Pro, or the iMac Pro. And it is very good.
Facetime is something I dreamt of when I was young, in the early 90s. So it still is a marvel to me, that it is possible.
Perhaps it is the most important app. Because it really isn't comparable to a phone call, when it lets you see who one is speaking to. Or to show the surroundings.
And yes, facetime still works well enough on an iPhone 6s, when I am out traveling
