You all have it wrong. It's an event to introduce a new iPad case, and a new iWork lineup. I'm telling you. This is huge news. :D

No, no, no.
The event is strictly only to reveal new iPhone earbuds, that drown out the noise of people talking about the new MBP release.

Why the non-disclosure agreement then? Something doesn't add up here..

Alot of people saying its more likely its about steve job's health and how apple will position its company after steve jobs. Here's what one poster out of many wrote:

Ex-employee here. Product launches NEVER merit the entire team's presence unless, maybe, it's an entirely new product (but even then, the iPad briefing was day-of). It's either a quarterly meeting (which is by far the most likely) or it's a retail-initiative meeting-- some change to the way the stores operate. In my experience, product launches would be handled in the early morning of the day-of, or, if you're with BOH, late at night the night before. There's just no reason to draw everyone together for much of anything, unless it specifically relates to the store.

I damn hope the MBP comes out Thursday.

I don't think they would hold a meeting like this for a new product release.

Is it standard for them to require signing a NDA before a quarterly meeting?

The event will be about the new MBPs and iMacs, and then the "one more thing"... iPad 2 - boom!

:D

I'm no expert, but from what ive been reading, theres two stories going around on macrumors from employees.

1. there is no NDA according to one employee
2. NDA for either change to store layout, steve jobs, new services being provided

If you guys want more information its all in the comment section on macrumors's front page.

imo though, a NDA for product releases don't make sense. However a touchy issue such as steve jobs health seems more like a NDA issue to me.

I would agree with this... i wouldnt think the meeting is about products (could be not ruleling it out) i think its about jobs health and the future of apple, one of those lets let out people the apple family know people know before the media, then in the event they ll talk about it to the media

but for apple the most important thing was to let their employies their family know of everything first

its just an expansion of genius bar. Geniuses are now allowed to help onsite and on the phone. Apparently the meeting was to inform on how to sell this new service to local businesses and etc.
