Apple today provided developers with the eighth beta of macOS Tahoe 26 for testing purposes, with the update coming a week after the seventh beta.

Registered developers can download the new beta software through the System Settings app.

macOS Tahoe features Apple's Liquid Glass redesign, which extends across all of the new updates this year. Apple also brought the Phone and Journal apps to the Mac for the first time, and introduced a new cross-platform Games app.

With the update, Apple overhauled how Spotlight works, enabling new functionality that allows it to be used to complete all kinds of actions like sending emails without having to open up an app. There are also changes to a number of apps, including Messages, Safari, and Notes.

All of the new features that are included in macOS Tahoe are outlined in our dedicated roundup. macOS Tahoe is set to launch this fall.

wonder how long it will be, before we see the latest public beta released. Excited to give this next build a try. Hopefully by this point, releases are pretty stable. We shall see

I don't like liquid glass one bit, but I guess we are stuck with it for a while. It's like OSX's Vista.. ugh
it can look cool, the dock for example looks very good. but i feel it's too complex. regular buttons you can just slap onto everything. but with this glass, as we can see, they have to manually adapt every app and it's inconsistent and complicated.

Longer‑term, analyst Ming‑Chi Kuo believes it would be build 25M7546c, but Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman insists it’s actually 25M7546“a”“like in the word Apple” — and claims anyone saying otherwise is “misreading Apple’s internal roadmap.” Who knows? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Is the bug fixed that causes the process fileproviderd to run the CPU in excess of 100% when syncing pages documents across iCloud??? That is utterly annoying. Seems like every week or two I have to delete the metadata info in my library in order to get things running smoothly again.

Still not fixed Core Audio Integer Mode forcing 32 bit float even if the DAC doesn't support it and wants 16 or 24 bit integer. Exclusive audio was one of the main reasons I am dailying a mac instead of a windows pc, and now that feature is partially broken.

Last few betas have been very stable for me, but there are still a number of other bugs showing in my use:

1. The icon for the Keyboard / Emoji selector keeps reappearing in the menu bar
2. If you have the Shortcuts button in the menu bar and click on it to open up the Shortcuts assigned to the menu bar, then activate one of those, the button in the menu bar becomes inactive for about 30 seconds
3. In Safari, if you go full-screen, and open up the sidebar, then navigate into Reading List or Bookmarks, there is no 'back' button to go back up to the top level list.
4. In General -> Storage in System Settings, storage in iCloud Drive is misreported as being in 'System Data'.

All logged as feedback. Items 3 and 4 are clearly known about ('More than 10' reports in Feedback Assistant).
