Apple Seeds Eighth Beta of macOS Tahoe to Developers

At this rate, we're probably in for another Snow Leopard when the next major release arrives.

If only. But I fear that Apple will keep on piling on the features.

Obviously they’re behind with AI so I think we can expect them to focus on that yet.

I do find apple’s seeming inability to keep macOS at parity with iOS puzzling.

Either:

Get things right on iOS & iPad spa first and then bring it to the Mac & other platforms next major release - or in march.

Or fully work things out behind the scenes instead of presenting work at the wwdc keynote as an alpha.

Still not fixed Core Audio Integer Mode forcing 32 bit float even if the DAC doesn't support it and wants 16 or 24 bit integer. Exclusive audio was one of the main reasons I am dailying a mac instead of a windows pc, and now that feature is partially broken.

We should’ve been half a decade ago. I don’t think Apple has the guts to do that again. It seems like they think their software quality is good enough

It’s Not and I’ve avoided betas all summer and been content to watch after the dumpster fire that was last year across the board.

I do with their software quality would improve but they have gotten good at doing the bare minimum. Which is great for my wallet as I’m not buying anything.

What’s exclusive audio?

bypassing mixing and resampling and feed the music from the music player bit-perfectly directly to the dac. both for music production and high end audio this is kinda important.
