I’m struggling to understand this:

So they bring back 3D Touch app switching and the missing reachability action just when all indications were they were dropped intentionally. Is this the result of feedback and complaints? If not, why were they dropped in the first place and why has it it taken so long to get them back? None of this makes any sense. People were reporting and complaining about the loss of these throughout the beta period long before iOS 11 was released.

Why did iOS 11 seemingly take such a backwards step initially? Is that really how their software development cycle is supposed to work? I would’ve thought starting with what you want to keep from the previous version moving forward is the logical way to go about it.

I’m pleased if Apple are indeed responding to criticism and complaints as seems to be the case here, but iOS 11 still has a way to go to reach the speed and polish of iOS 10 on my phone.

Reducing the home button delay and increasing animation speeds are my most wanted improvements moving forward.

Beta 4 was GM. This is an emergency fix to resolve the issue wherein the user would type a new emoji and it would be blank, I’m sure.

Expect iOS 11.1 to drop to the public this week, probably Wednesday or Thursday. Tomorrow is wishful thinking.
Chances are next week is probably more likely, but we never really know.

HUNDREDS of new emoji...
The way the article wrote it is misleading. There were no new emojis since Beta 2.

Still no Apple Pay Cash or iMessage in iCloud?!
Apple Pay Cash might already be in iOS 11.1, just that Apple is unlikely to trigger the switch in beta builds and I do not know if the switch will be triggered on the public release of iOS 11.1 as well. As for iCloud iMessages, that might be in iOS 11.2 instead.

So while the whole iPhone user population is waiting for speed and battery life .... what is Apple doing: create an 11.1 update whose most notewhorthy item is a bunch of new emoji ... Apple lost their way now they ran out of whatever guidance and visions Steve left behind. iPhone X marks the end of the iPhone/iOS era.

I was wondering how long it would take for this type of foolishness to rear its ugly head - didn't have long to wait

I really wish MacRumors would stop making such a big thing of new emojis in all these beta releases. The knee-jerk, repetitive and ill-informed posts it triggers are getting very boring and predictable now. Still, I guess it draws in the punters.

Yup. The articles are misleading and constantly lead to a barrage of pointless complaints about Apple’s priorities. Yes, 11.1 doesn’t add a lot of features. That’s good — it gives them more room to fix some issues.

Anecdotally, it looks like there’s less system CPU usage. Background activity in beta 5 so far seems to only draw <10% whereas beta 4 was running 10-20%. This could mean BETTER BATTERY LIFE. But this is all subjective so take it w/ a grain of salt.

Sticking with 10.3.3 on my 6s until most people say battery life has improved. My neighbor just complained about the battery life on her iPhone 6 Plus the other day since she upgraded to 11.0, 11.0.1-11.0.3. She says now she to charge her phone by the late afternoon which she didn't have to do with iOS 10. Before she could go a full day into the late evening before charging, sometimes longer.

Someone please go to the calculator app and quickly type

1+2+3+4+5...and tell me what number you get.

This app has been broken since iOS 11.

Is 10.3.3 still signed ?
