Not sure if it just added in this beta or not.
I just saw an option to search a song by lyrics in Apple Music now for the first time.
Great find! I haven't seen this in previous betas. I'm always searching for songs like that in Safari.

I do wonder why Apple continues to pump money and resources into 'Maps'. They are always likely to play second fiddle to Google in this area so better to cut your losses and swallow your pride - forget it Apple, move on.

If the various mapping applications all use the same data, why do some applications provide better directions while others tell you to do things like make 2 U-turns instead of just turning left?

Also, does anyone else find it annoying when Apple Maps tells you to "Proceed to the route"? Isn't the purpose of having driving directions to tell us how to get there?

To prevent Google from having some power over them.

Well given most iPhone users fill their devices with Google apps anyway (and why wouldn't you) that ship has already sailed.

If you looked at my iPad you would probably do a double take as it looks almost like stock Android. :)

That doesn't mean Apple has to make it to where they rely on Google themselves. Also, your iPad can't look like stock Android because it has no app drawer...

Personally I have had no issues with Apple Maps here in the uk - it is at least as good as google in my experience and in some locations actually slightly more up to date and accurate.

If I remember correctly one of the reasons google got dropped as the maps provider was an argument about wanting advertising within the maps app and reports that they were possibly withholding turn by turn direction functionality unless they got it.

Plus why would you want a key feature of your software to be at the mercy of data from one of your competitors...

This latest release has been a real hit to the battery. An unused (sitting on the counter) iPhone 5s goes from 100%-55% in about 3 hours. It's also a bit warm.

No issues in the previous release.
