Is it really this bad the OS?
I wanted to wait till November to have a stable OS but reading around I will probably wait 2018.

Given the hoopla that they made of APFS, it seems that they sure screwed the pooch in announcing it, long before they had a clue as to what was involved in getting it ready for a Beta release, let alone a GM release. Perhaps they should have done the "One More Thing" teaser with APFS, and announce it for next year?

Seriously, after this long, and they still don't have it working on Fusion drives? How many Macs did they sell, that have Fusion drives?

??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
How about fixing apple mail....getting the finder to actually find something...screw the emojies....let the teens buy them at the app store....

Wow, you just said a mouthful. I've been complaining about MAIL glitches since MAVERICKS!

And it's just like they don't care. Every update erases all the server settings, makes emails or accounts disappear. I STILL have accounts I never bothered to recover! I still get the emails, but the account doesn't show up nor can I send any mail on it. Apple's solution is to delete the account and re-add it. Of course, that loses ALL PREVIOUS EMAILS. It's virtually impossible to keep a dozen email accounts active and functional in Apple Mail.

One update disabled Hotmail Pop accounts just for no reason. I file bug reports.

I STILL have email accounts that cannot SEND MAIL from the MAIL program.

Given that they successfully shipped APFS to hundreds of millions of iOS devices without issue, that seems a strange assessment.

APFS is out. Tons and tons of iOS devices run it. And the vast majority of Macs on High Sierra do, too.

Surely quite a minority.

I also don't see the problem. They pulled APFS Fusion Drive support in 10.13.0 last-minute because they weren't happy with the reliability. It doesn't really affect users with a Fusion Drive at all, because they simply continue to use HFS+ just as before. They'll eventually get upgraded. Just not today.

Very stable and error free for me on a 2011 MacBook Pro 17" (SSD) and 2017 MacBook Pro 15". I had some wake from sleep issues on the 2011 MacBook Pro but they were resolved upon release of macOS 10.13 GM. Both have been running macOS 10.13.1 Betas exceptionally well. Don't believe everything you read here or elsewhere for that matter.

Hope this will fix my slow boot/reboot time. ;)
What are your reboot times? I just timed reboots on my 2011 MacBook Pro 17" (SSD) and my 2017 MacBook Pro 15". The 2011 rebooted back to the desktop (including user login with password) in 52 seconds. The 2017 rebooted back to the desktop (including user login with password) in 41 seconds. I reran the reboots and they were the same so they are consistent. I'm happy with those times. By the way, both laptops are running macOS 10.13.1 Beta 5 with APFS on both.

You just gave me a lot more good info than the macrumors article did. I think it would be nice if the so-called ‘reporters’ on macrumors actually did a little digging and learned some of the stuff you have, and put it in their articles.

They (or their source, if discovered) would get their developer license revoked.

They SAID APFS would work with RAID set-ups... it does NOT. No idea if this is also tied up with NOT working on Fusion drives (funny, they DO talk about it in relation to said drives but are totally mum about working on arrays), but they never should have released it not in this half-assed state.

I hope they finally release a security update for older OS versions too. The keychain and WPA2 (KRACK) issues are both much too bad to expect everyone to upgrade to High Sierra or remain vulnerable, IMHO, especially when 10.13 is still relatively new and not all software has been updated for full compatibility yet.

If you make your decision based on the comments on these MacRumors articles you will probably miss out on a great update to macOS.

No OS is perfect; but I have only experienced a tiny fraction of the issues being reported — and none of them have kept me from using High Sierra in production for months.

Your experience will be dictated by your unique configuration and application mix. I find the OS Bugs / What works lists to be the most objective reference for determining if an update will be problematic for me.

Hope this helps.

They are. They’ll probably release it alongside 10.13.1.

I have two Synology DiskStations [RAID 0] on my LAN and my iMac SSD is formatted APFS [10.13.1 beta]. I can only say your assertion that APFS does not work with RAID set-ups is incorrect. Works just fine with my set-up.
Also, the Public beta 5 has just been released.

Given that they successfully shipped APFS to hundreds of millions of iOS devices without issue, that seems a strange assessment. Which pretty much confirms what Apple has said about APFS and that is because it is designed for SSD drives. Considering that EVERY iPhone and iPad has a SSD, I think the other poster you responded to pretty much nailed it. Apple shouldn't have released APFS yet. It was designed for iDevices and ported to the desktop SSD drives. Nothing else was ready for it.

I sincerely doubt the vast majority are running APFS considering how many Macs are out there still running with their OEM spinning platter drives.

Surely quite a minority. Um, pretty sure more than just quite a minority of recently sold Macs had fusion drives.

Your last statement here pretty much confirms most of what the other guy and I are trying to say.
One thing to add, my time machine backup is an SSD yet because APFS is not fully backed by Time Machine, my HS Mac Pro with SSD reformatted my SSD external hard drive back to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) from APFS.

I hope they fixed the HDMI issue on Mac mini (2011). My mac mini is dedicated for Kodi and after 10.13, I need to reconnect the HDMi cable in order to get image again, and while playing a movie, the image cuts out. Sometimes it is so bad that I even lose HDMI handshake and I get a pixelated screen. In order to fix I need to switch inputs.
This mac mini has been running el captain for years and I have never experienced this kind of problem before. Will wait for 10.13.1 and if that does not fix it, im downgrading to Sierra or El Capitain.

I have a display that just shuts off for no reason. I'm still active. Mac OS is not asleep or my other 2 displays, but that one just goes away. Still shows in Display preferences as active, but nope it's gone.

Just boggles my mind. This bug didn't even happen in Sierra and is new to the most recent builds.
