So we don't need to download it if we don't need the Photos app?

Going to wait for the final release if thats so.

The last two updates when it got to less then one minute remaining it just stops. I reboot the computer and everything loads just fine.

Anyone else having this problem?

While Apple is going on about releasing a new photos app and adding this fancy feature and that fancy feature ... doesn't anyone bother about the utterly bad overall performance of the system? I have a pumped up rMBP 15" and it lags and is slow when using mission control, zooming or opening multiple windows. Threw Yosemite away a couple of weeks ago and using Mavericks until Apple finally gets it right.

Does anyone feel the same way? It seriously makes me angry how :apple: just does not address these issues.

Strange – I don't think Yosemite performs worse than Mavericks. But I also don't use a rMBP (if that matters).

Everything works great for me, but I would really appreciate it if Apple could make a black background an option for Photos.

Can some more people with 13" rMBP 2014's (or earlier) verify whether the expose animations are smoother now (with transparency on)? It's the one thing I hate about my computer.

Is it still slow with this new seed, or just with Yosemite in general?
What year is your rMBP 15 from?

CPU going crackers!!!!

Hi Guys,

has anyone else had trouble with their CPU time being quadrupled since installing the latest build?

mine used to be minimal and spike everynow and again when opening an app or something (which is normal) but now even idle my CPU is now has a load of no lower than 60% when i'm lucky!

I've got a rMBP 15" from 2014, and Yosemite works fine. VERY fast.

My Mac Mini from 2011 was VERY slow with Yosemite. Then I upgraded the ram from 4gb to 16gb, and it's now VERY fast again.

I think if you only have 4gb ram, it'll be slow.

Where can I find deleted Pictures in the Photos app. I have iCloud disabled and they are not showing up in the Trash nor is there a folder where the "recently deleted" are.

1. Yes if you choose to turn on iCloud Photo Library. Videos go into the cloud too.

2. No, it's all or nothing. If you need some media local only, the best bet at this point in time is a new Photos Library (just like iPhoto, hold option when starting up Photos to select different libraries). Only your main "system" library will sync to the cloud.

3. Yes if your media is larger than your iCloud storage space. (I really hope that Apple will announce more competitive iCloud storage pricing when Photos is officially released - a year ago Apple's pricing was pretty good, but not so much today)

For me there are two must have Yosemite features.

1. The UI. Such a breath of fresh air. Going back to Mavericks seems so...old fashioned now.

2. Continuity. Being able to message, FaceTime and phone call people (even people without Apple devices) from my laptop is super handy when my phone is upstairs or in another room. This feature really is excellent

Thanks for the info. I went ahead last night and exported all the pics and videos to a local folder that I did not want going into the cloud if I decide to use the new Photo app. Now that I have cleaned out my iPhoto Library, I am in a good place to test it out and see what all the fuss is about.

Thanks again!

Under File select Show Recently Deleted. Then click on one of the tabs to get out of the deleted photos album, because oddly there is no clear "back" button in that album.

I would agree with you, but Apple has shown time and again that they can't get syncing right. Look at iTunes Match.

The old iCloud photo syncing worked great, PC <--> Mac <--> iDevice <--> ATV. I've been pretty happy with iTunes Match. iCloud Drive works well for me also, though I don't use it on a PC. Password syncing across Mac and iPhone is nice too.

From my perspective they do pretty good at syncing.

Direct Link

Anyone have a direct link? I need to reinstall the public beta. I hosed my FaceTime trying to fix the bug that won't allow me to make cellular calls with FaceTime.
