  1. You can use TotalFinder for cut/paste.
  2. Speaking of maximizing, you can use HyperDock! You can assign a keyboard shortcut to resize your windows in four corners, full size, or half of the screen size. Plus, there are more settings! Check it out!
These Tweaks are very useful for me.

Tried TotalFinder, doesn't work; SIP makes it very buggy. Tried XtraFinder as well, only some features work.

My greatest wish would be for them to fix 802.1x authentication. We have had macbooks with 3 generations of operating systems (mavericks, yosemite and el capitan) and all three have had reliability issues connecting via 802.1x. That's just unacceptable.

Did anyone else get what appeared to be a firmware update about halfway through the install? During the update, the progress of the standard progress bar (thin, dark grey bar with no outline) paused, my MBP rebooted and a thicker progress bar with a dark grey outline and a lighter grey interior appeared, did its thing and then my MBP rebooted again and the normal install/progress bar completed. I tend to associated those "hollow" progress bars with firmware updates. Did anyone else have this happen?

I'm running a Mid-2012, non-Retina, 15" MBP.

There have been firmware updates for EVERY point release since 10.10.2 - including all the betas. So you shouldn't be surprised by this.

Hey guys, guess what? The popup for safari on OS X has also been updated!!! Check the image out!

That works for me in 10.11.3. Though, I probably helps that I reinstalled El Capitan a couple weeks ago.

Does it fix finder? You know, cut/paste shortcut and folders on top? Also green button needs an option to maximize rather than full screen.
It would also be nice to be able to open a Finder Window without being delayed by a spinning beachball.

I disabled SIP a couple months ago so I could use my eGPU and cDock.

El Cap is much better experience than Yosemite ever was for me.
In general, yes. In terms of third-party Solid State Drive and SSHD support. Yes. But there are still some bugs. The biggest issue for me is that whenever I open a Finder window, I’m usually delayed for about 10 seconds by a spinning beachball.

My MacBook Pro is upgrading to the new beta and has been stuck for a while on the white Apple logo and the progress bar at about 60%. What should I do?

I think i am the only person whose 2015 rMBP 13" started freezing since the original 10.11.4 beta. Happens once every few days and requires a force restart (By holding down the power button).

Holding down the option key when clicking the green button "zooms" the window, although it doesn't maximize width-wise, only height-wise. I think it depends on the content in the window about how it behaves. But option key definitely avoids the full-screen behaviour, like all apps.

Did you do a fresh install or install it on top of the previous OS? The latter is never a good idea (even though it's officially recommended by apple). My finder window opens instantly. 10.11 has been blazingly fast for me with practically zero bugs. Also, the ram is much better used than in any previous OS, and the fan hardly ever blows. :)

I've noticed one specific change, probably in response to a constant bug I've reported. It appears double sided USB to Thunderbolt cables are deactivated and will NOT work anymore. I had previously reported that using these cables was causing my Mac Pro to crash Bluetooth and not recognize the iPhone until a reboot. The problem was intermittent. Most times the cable worked, but it appears Apple chose not to solve the problem, but to just continue supporting such cables.

So far other things like artifacts in MAIL and Preview are not showing their ugly head.

I said few weeks ago that the real OSX is OS X 12 not the 10.11. Still on Yosemite 10.10.5 until then
Then you are missing out on a lot. Improved performance, improved apps and for the most part a more stable system.

I'd just wait it out. I had a similar experience when I installed Yosemite, though it was an official release, not a beta. It took hours to finish installing.

I did a fresh install. In December, I switched from my SSHD to a 480 gigabyte Solid State Drive. I did a fresh install so OS X would run smoother.

Option-click the green button and it will be zoom instead of full screen
It's not the same. My solution is to go to The Mission Control part of System Preferences, and set the title bar behavior to maximize. It's a lot easier.

For me, clicking on the title bar to maximize works on my Mac hight-wise and width-wise for pretty much everything except Safari. I’m not sure why Safari is the exception.

I've had that happen at least twice, but over the course of about 3 months.

The last couple times it's happened while I was switching between Chrome and Safari. I've submitted bug reports to Apple, hopefully they'll figure out what the cause is.

Are they going to disable any more software drivers without telling us?
Apple ain't what it used to be
