I configured my own dark mode on iOS. Simply set up triple click of the home button to turn on inverse screen colors under Assistive settings. I like it better than what my Android phones offer. On the modern iPhones it greatly reduces overall light output and makes reading at night much more relaxing.
Invert colors is somewhat nice, but can present a lot of white when things would normally be dark, and affects pictures and videos as well, which makes somewhat strange when it comes to those.

In hindsight, I think this update can save Apple a lot of grief with customers calling in stating they lost their AirPod or what is Apple's policy on loss. Or just in general complaining about "How I lost my Airpods." Now, there is a safety net for those who are complacent.

You might be right but the tenor within these fine, fine forum walls suggests an Apple concerned only with watch bands, profit, and thinness. So what's the big deal with APFS? Coupled with Swift and proprietary chips, will APFS somehow allow Apple greater and unique control and responsibility over their products?
For a sincere discussion, share at least the illusion of similar perspective.
I will save you the details (pages of features, see posts above) but Swift and APFS are Big from a technical perspective - possibly the best in years. Stuff that really makes Apple prevalent over the competition (without control & responsibility being affected, these aren't differentiators here anyway)

APFS will allow for more available storage, more security, faster file access. Swift allows developers to make better apps faster. So if this is not innovation I have no idea what is!

Anyone else unable to get the update to iOS 10.3 beta 1 to show up after they've installed the profile? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the profile, doing hard reboots, etc, but every time I do, I don't get the update just the "iOS 10.2.1 Your software is up to date" screen.

Are you using the public beta profile or the developer profile (it's only out for developers so far)?

If you don't see the update:

Remove the device from your AppleID portal, then I re-add it by signing out of iCloud and then back in. It comes back up in the device portal and then the update should show up.

Answered my own question with help on the dev forums--thanks though!

So, I was looking at Dev beta....I'm a normal iOS beta user. Do you guys pay $99 for Dev beta access?
The public beta from Apple it typically only a day or so later getting the firmware other than maybe beta 1's. Sorta depends on if its an x.x or x.x.x. Later in the process they are the same day. So the public beta is typically fine if you are not planning on developing apps or not in a huge hurry to try software. And of course this particular one introduces an entirely new file system so extra caution may be in order.

I'd say on this case, waiting until beta 2 isn't a bad idea. This is a huge overhaul of a file system. There may be some ugly surprises that might pop up. I use public beta and I'm okay with reading until I'm sure and even then running it on my 6s first before my 7+ daily driver.

On that note, anyone here using Swype? Does it still work on this newest iteration?

FYI....if you use a lightning to 30-pin adapter in your car or elsewhere, under 10.3 beta 1 there is a good chance that your audio will not output through that adapter, although charging will still work. Several complaints in other forums in that regard. Looks like it might be related to phone model, as the complaints seem to be centered on iPhone6. I know from my own experience that iPhoneSE works, but iPhone6 does not. Apple seems to have tangentially referred to this in its release notes when it said that "Lightning video adapters may not work as expected."
