Apple today seeded the first beta of an upcoming iOS 11.4.1 update to developers, one day after releasing iOS 11.4, an update that introduced AirPlay 2 and Messages in iCloud.

Registered developers can download the new iOS 11.4.1 beta from Apple's Developer Center or over-the-air once the proper configuration profile has been installed from the Developer Center.

We don't know what new features are included in the iOS 11.4.1 beta, but it is likely to focus on bug fixes and performance improvements to address issues discovered since the release of iOS 11.4.

Apple's work on iOS 11 is wrapping up, as iOS 12 is set to be released to developers next week following the keynote event of the 2018 Worldwide Developers Conference.

LOL

The beta program is starting to become a joke with Apple. That long of testing on 11.4, and now bugs and a 11.4.1 beta? What is the point of opening the beta to the public (like they did a few years ago)...... just too funny

There will always be bugs, and releases will still need to happen, so at some point some fixes or changes have to be put off to the next release.

I have issues with my contacts in the new iOS update. Pictures of contacts keep reverting to a different position and switching the number info from mobile to iPhone keeps reverting it back to mobile again. Is anyone else having the same issue? Started right after 11.4 was installed. So annoying

They will have had a feature & bug-fix freeze back in the earlier 11.4 betas, so they can fully, publicly test 11.4's bug fixes and features. At some point they have to stop fixing existing bugs, and test the fixes they've pushed in 11.4. They'd never quash all bugs for a release, so at some point they have to stop fixing older bugs and test their newer fixes. This is why there'll be an 11.4.1, which will continue to fix bugs known about since before 11.4's release.

Anyone who doesn't understand that (which there are already some in this thread) is completely ignorant to how program works at every company in the world.

Apparently some would rather have any bug found in 11.4 left there until iOS 12 is released in September. Somehow I think they'd cry a lot more if that was the case.

iOS 9 had a mad dash at the end too- hitting 9.3.5 before it got shelved. I don't think we've seen the end of iOS 11 at 11.4.1. There may be one or two more tweaks before it's put away for good.
Then the merry-go-round starts all over again with iOS 12 for the next year: Introduce 5 new features while breaking 10 more previously stable ones.

I noticed today that my iPad in presentation mode—using Apple Keynote—with Do Not Disturb turned on was still showing messagings and calendar notifications.

I was presenting on my ipad when this happened, and thankfully nothing personal or NSFW’ish came up or it could have cost me my job.

I work in tech, so I understand there are always bugs. But I’m getting sick and tired of Apple’s shoddy software quality.

Enough is enough. How far behind does Apple have to fall with software, how bad does quality have to get, and how late do features have to be, before Tim does something?

I’m pretty sure that do not disturb and do not disturb while driving only apply when the device is locked - or that’s certainly my experience. If the phone is unlocked it seems it is deemed that you are actively using it and therefore will want to see notification alerts even with dnd enabled.

This is especially irritating when driving with a navigation app as the phone has to be unlocked in that scenario so notifications alerts still show and some - calendar ones especially- don’t always auto clear and need to be swiped up manually to get rid of them.

It’s supposed to turn off all notifications. I think a reboot may have fixed it. Not sure though...

Did you set it to always? Serious question.

Erm.. Out of curiosity, I checked out the DND settings in my iPhone (iOS 10.3.3) and there is an option to choose between:

"Always"

or

"If the iPhone is Locked"

Rough translation from pt-br :p.. In my case, the second option is selected.

Hope it helps!

Hey Guys why does Apple isn’t listening to their customers I’ve been reporting major bugs such as weather widget been broken since the beginning of iOS 11 first beta. Also the manual time settings been broken. They are about to close 11.4 final versions and they aren’t listening.

...and this comment is why apple should close down the beta and only allow educated individuals to partake...

Why so there is - I'd never spotted that setting before  Set to Always now - it was set to while locked - and I'll see if that fixes my problems :)

Nice, keep squashing bugs Apple.

At the OS level there will always be bugs and the more addressed the better off the user experience will be.
