I don't understand all the complaining about more frequent updates and betas. I remember a few years back when they'd release iOS 5 or 6 and then do like iOS 5.1 or 2 and that was it. I remember when it was celebrated that Apple added public betas and now people are complaining about the frequency of an OPT-IN beta? Strange bunch sometimes...

Let's vote what will this update break up next.

A) iPad Pro 12.9"
B) Apple Pencil support
C) iPhone SE

Your reply's broke my patience for inanity : bye.

People complain about EVERYTHING : It's SOP around here.

So is anyone installing this or just discussing the new found fear for Apple updates? ( I am in that camp as well) When it gets such that you cannot fix by using DFU and a previous version then its time to rethink installing Apple updates (esp betas). Thats too bad.

People used to get excited about updates, now they are afraid of them. I used to get a sense of "delight" when using Apple products, but now I only sense relief when they work. I still like them better than other companies' products, but that's not saying much anymore.

This feeling is because people have a very very bad, selective memory; maybe this explains your biased assesment.

There were plenty of a worse updates during the Iphone 3 and Iphone 4 eras. Some updates made nearly all previous versions of the phone slow as slog for months.

Also, with now 1B devices in circulation, even a very small issue is magnified by the Internet echo chamber. This place being one of the worse echo chamber there is.

It has always been a bad idea to upgrade as soon as an update comes in. Waiting even a day or two usually reveals most issues with the update if there are any.

Before OTA updates, people had a tendency to wait out updates longer. Maybe they should just go back to doing that.

You do not need to pay $99 a year to download Xcode or develop. You only need to pay $99 a year if you want to publish your application to the app store.
...and get access to developer betas. Which is what the original reply was answering.

In the old days, before OTA, people would actually back up their system before updating (and they also tended to wait a few days to update). At least, in the worse case, doing that means your not losing anything important, or being stopped from using your device when you absolutely need it.

There are no reasons people should just on OTA updates, during the day at work, like they do now.

how much does the beta tester get paid to take those risks?

do you get your iPad for free from Apple?

Didn't you know? Only released versions cause bricking. :D

They shouldn't drop those, reason, iOS 9 sucks on some of those devices, my iPhone 4S is barely usable with iOS 9.
iOS 10 should make it useable again, or allow us to go back to an earlier iOS version.
or force you to upgrade

I have had the opposite experience.
Especially MacOS, but iOS as well.
I am not sure what is going on with Apple lately.
I am experiencing a very small drop in performance since 10.11.1. But I can complain as I am still running a mac with an HDD.
On my iPhone 5s, iOS 9.1 was very snappy. Further updates made it bit slower but nothing that affects me in normal use. So I am satisfied.
I guess this issue is due to the support for almost 5 years old iPhones and even older Macs. I guess its time they dropped the support for phones older than 5S and Macs older than 2011.

I've noticed 3 fixes so far:

1. Time at top of screen now shows after unlocking phone.

2. Game Center now no longer shows listed as a game when viewing games

3. Safari now correctly deletes history when using "clear history and website data".

Because back on those days Apple actually had stable releases at X.0 that didn't need 17 updates to fix them throughout the release year.

iOS 9.3.3
Patch Details:
  • Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.

Huh, try again with facts next time, people have complained about X.0 every single time.
Most .X.1 release also have small feature updates and not just fix bugs; they just piggyback bug fixes on top of them.
You prefer waiting 4 months for those features.
