Does anybody know if 24p playback will be available on the old model Apple TV4 for 1080p, not just the 4K?

No! Just the new ATV4K - I guess because ATV4, 3 and 2 never had any form of manual switching. Crazy as Apple are about attention to detail so how this could slip I don't know but, it's finally here on the ATV4K. I guess this is the true beauty of ATV, you keep it a few years and then upgrade it when the new one gets released. They are quality bits of kit!

YAY! Automatic frame rate switching and automatic SDR/HDR switching is most DEFINITELY the way the Apple TV 4K should have shipped from the start. As it is now, if I watch 'The Rifleman' (or any other SDR content) via Hulu the Apple TV 4K stays in HDR mode and that automatically sets my TV to maximum brightness mode (what some call TORCH mode). HDR TVs can get VERY bright (for obvious reasons) and old black & white TV shows look ridiculously bright in torch mode.

Hopefully, non developer users won't have to wait too long for tvOS 11.2.

I’m running 12.7.0.166 and I can’t see an update available. I still have an Apple TV3, and on that the TV show album art I embedded using iTunes still appears. But it all disappeared on the Apple TV4’s at the time of the software update.

It probably won’t be fixed for a long time based on the period before homesharing and airplay became very stable.

Also, once albums appear to have no content, everything else is gone too; movies, tv shows etc.

You have to restart the Apple TV app, but that is impossible for everybody in this house except me.

If I paid for a Sonos system to listen to music, I’d be very cross, but I have Apple TVs and Airport Expresses connected to each hifi, and somehow I have come to expect this.

I’m not a developer, and I no longer bother to report things that are wrong. Especially with things like AirPlay, I understand that it’s a very small team and they only look at it once in a while. You can read on the forums about people’s frustrations and you can see how it became quite stable over the past year or so. I think as a user it has zero effect if you report anything. I doubt they are even read.

I understand its frustrating but networking issues can be complex and a sysdiagnose would go a long way to help identify and fix the problem.

Just wandering, maybe the Amazon app works badly on a fixed HDR output, so they put the app on hold till TVOS 11.2 comes out?

On the regular Apple tv 4 you can switch between 60hz and 50hz. It’s very useful, because the european tv series stream at 50fps. I really hope they will add auto switch between 50hz and 60hz.

Thank you. I’m not a developer so I cannot access the link you posted (sysdiagnose).

However, I don’t think this is a network issue as the TV artwork is correct on the old Apple TV3 I have and the problem with albums having no content is not present on my Apple TV3 even when I listen to music and switch between albums, which I do regularly as I have it in the kitchen.

The problem is on my Apple TV4’s and only presented with the new OS.

Also my network is made up of 4 Extremes, 1 Time Capsule and 4 Expresses all wired by Ethernet. The network works flawlessly and the whole house has an excellent wireless connection plus Ethernet for AV.

I think this is a bug in the new Apple TV OS. Do you work at Apple?

Right, but I think the ATV 4 doesn't have a 24 or 25 Hz setting, correct? If they're updating the ATV 4K to auto switch, they really should update the ATV 4 as well, so those 24p 1080p movies play the way they're supposed to ...

Does it include a fix for the missing movie poster / artwork in the Computers app / Home Sharing functionality?
